  • The Church, Part 21 – Acts 16:1-6 and Ephesians 4:11-16
Do you need equipping, mending, and healing?
    Acts 16:1-6 and Ephesians 4:11-16
    Questions:
    1. What stood out to you in the message?
    2. Who is someone that played a key mentoring role in your life? Tell your group about this person and how they impacted your life.
    3. What church roles do you see listed in Ephesians 4:11? Why did Paul include these roles and not others? How do these roles complete a good ministry team?
    4. If you hired Paul to do an assessment of your life and its effectiveness in accomplishing Jesus’ mission for your life, what would he recommend you do? How would he go about changing things in your life?
    5. Pastor Chad taught about how the words “to equip the saints” in Ephesians 4:12 actually has a connotation of “to mend”, not just “to equip”. Pastor Chad’s Big Idea, “Healing people lead people to healing who lead people to healing”, was based on this. How does your healing/mending play into your equipping of others?
    6. How does Ephesians 4:15-16 support how you answered the previous question?
    7. Pastor Chad concluded by saying that we are ALL called to ministry because Jesus’ healing in us is to be sharing with others in need of Jesus’ healing. What is Jesus calling you to do for Him? What person or ministry is He calling you to sharing healing with and in?
Scripture Passages: Mark 13-16, Luke 1-6

    Acts 15
    Questions:
    1. What stood out to you in the message?
    2. What were some of the extra-biblical rules that you were expected to follow in church?
    3. Pastor Chad taught about the three categories of Old Testament Law: Moral, Civil, and Ceremonial. Have you ever heard this before? How does this affect your understanding of Old Testament Law in light of Jesus’ fulfillment of that Law?
    4. Why do people struggle to truly believe that one is saved by the grace of Jesus alone (versus Jesus + baptism, attendance, morality, etc.)? What “Jesus + ____” teachings have you heard taught? Why are they unbiblical?
    5. What does Acts 15 teach us about what really matters to Jesus? How does that affect what we value and how we live our lives?
    6. Pastor Chad explained some of the things that really matter to Jesus: grace, leading every generation to the life-changing hope of Jesus, loving God, loving others, and living out the Fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). While this list is not exhaustive, how does your life reflect these values? What comes easy, and what is difficult?

Our only concern is that we are spreading the Gospel. How do you feel about that? Does it give you reassurance in your calling from Jesus? Why?
    5. Have you ever been a part of someone coming to believe in Jesus as their Savior? Tell your group about it. If not, why do you think you have never experienced it?

    5. How do you think Saul felt when Jesus confronted him? What do you think he was thinking? Why?
    6. Saul’s encounter with Jesus forced him to change everything about his life:  his career, his beliefs, his philosophies, his allegiances, his opinions, etc. We all have areas of our lives that we have not completely allowed the Holy Spirit to transform (Romans 12:2) within us. Pastor Chad said that we all should know the overall story of God’s Word so that we can explain it to someone. Could you do that in less than two minutes? Explain it to your group or to yourself.
