Today's guest is Todd Nilssen.
Todd is a documentary film maker whose most recent film, "The Last Stop" is today's topic of conversation.
The Last Stop is a film about the Élan School, which was a controversial school / treatment facility for so-called juvenile delinquents which existed in the deep woods of Maine.
That’s ExisTED, past-tense, because the Élan school was closed down in 2011 due to allegations of abuse which dated back to its opening in 1970.
My guest today tells all. Enjoy episode 6 with Todd Nilssen!

Welcome to episode 5 of "FSDP Presents"
Today’s guest is Dr. Robert Schwwebell. Robert offers a unique range of experience working with people of all ages to overcome addiction problems and, more importantly, to engage them in creating their own positive and constructive lifestyle.
He is the creator of the internationally-known 7-Challenges model, which he created for adolescents. More recently, he’s incorporated the 7-challenges concepts into his new book, “Leap of Power” which is a helpful tool for adults as well.
Today Robert and I discuss overcoming addiction through purely common-sense channels of human developement. He also provides valuable insight on how parents, family members, and other adults, can engage adolescents in a fully collaborative approach to dealing with problematic drug use… and a range of other problems.

Today’s guest is Brooke Feldman.
Brooke is a person with a history of addiction; a licensed social worker with a graduate degree from The University of Pennsylvania; and a social justice activist who focuses on bringing about policy and practice change at the intersections of mental health, substance use and the many intertwined issues of social justice.
Today she and I talk about her upbringing and her struggle with addiction and how she got to where she is today… she offers several important keynotes for families whose loved-ones may be facing distress related to substance use or really any other areas of life.
Brooke is humble, personable, intellectual, and has an inspiring story to share.
It was a unique experience—- a privilege— to speak with her today.
I hope you’ll enjoy!

Welcome to FSDP Presents: our new podcast with Zach Rhoads of "The Social Exchange Podcast."
You, the listeners, will hear interviews with drug policy experts as well families directly affected by current drug policies and addiction-related issues.
You will learn about Families For Sensible Drug Policy and what we are doing to support concerned family members like YOU-- ensuring that the collective family voice is front and center of a global conversation about drug policy.
The episodes will be diverse and creative but two main themes will run through each episode:
1.) The question is not, "how do we keep people drug free?" Instead we ask, "how can we influence policies that will keep our families safe in a world in which drugs are ubiquitous?"
2.) How can we, as a society, do what is necessary reduce harms associated with drug use and save lives?
