Life as a king takes its toll and David has many wives and many children. He doesn't address family problems and a very dark season develops in his life and the life of the country.

We've now travelled though around 1700 years since the beginning of the story. In season 2 we follow Noah's family forward as people begin to populate the earth.

Israel's second king is an unlikely character, he doesn't have the physical stature of Saul, yet he has moral courage. When Saul finds out that God has appointed David to succeed him, Saul tries to kill him. But David will not harm Saul and lives as an outlaw until Saul's death.

Israel's first King Saul has all the physical attributes the people admire he is good looking and in the prime of life. But, he is flawed and fears man above his respect and reverence for God. In fear Saul makes a sacrifice that only God's priest should make and so his days as king are numbered and Samuel is tasked with finding the next king.

God warns the people that a kingdom will cost them in many ways, but they are adamant that they want to be ruled like other nations. Now Samuel seeks the man that God has chosen to appoint as Israel's first king.

The High Priest Eli has been living with compromise and a prophecy has warned that his family will not continue God's priesthood. Now invaders steal God's ark of the covenant from the tabernacle. Eli dies, as do his two sons all on the same day. God had told Moses that the people would ask for a King to govern them, like other nations and now God speaks to the prophet Samuel about the people's wishes.

We join the story as the people have asked for a monarchy like other nations. We travel through around 120 years of history as Israel's first king is appointed.
