Tonight on Full Circle, we will be exploring cults – what are they, how are they very similar and yet different. On tonight’s show we’ll hear an introduction to Dhyana Levey who grew up in a cult and now hosts Generation Cult a Podcast. It’s an interview show about people who grew up in cults and how they adjusted to mainstream society after they left. Tonight we will hear episodes in the podcasts Generation Cult to find out how cults are similar and yet different. We’ll also hear a discussion about resources for people who want to leave a cult, all that tonight on Full Circle.

This week on Full Circle we will be taking a look at Bioneers 2023. The 3 day event is coming to Berkeley next week April 6th, 7th and 8th. On tonight's show we'll.speak with 3 organizers of the 3 day event. First up Joy Moore will speak with Marissa LaMagna of Bay Area Green Tours and JP Harpignies, the senior producer of Bioneers 2023. In the second half of the show I speak with Cara Romero, she is organizing the Indigeneity Forum, a series of panel discussions, films and much more, all from a Native or Indigenous perspective

Dolly Parton starts off the mix and is followed by Eurythmics featuring Aretha Franklin and ends with Queen Latifah’s Ladies First. The second segment begins with Cecile McLorin Salvant singing Ida Cox’s song Wild Women Don’t Have the Blues, next I play Whitney Houston singing Chaka Khan’s song I’m Every Woman, and ends this segment with Chaka Khan singing Woman Like Me and Skip the Needle’s Liberation. Next is Janelle Monae’s Django Jane and Ariana Grande’s God is Woman. The final segment includes the following three songs: Where Do We Go, Solange, Beautiful, Christina Aguilera and ends with Scars to Your Beautiful by Alessia Cara.

This week on Full Circle we will honor Women's History Month with women and youth voices from the 50th Anniversary of the Occupation/ Liberation of Wounded Knee. On tonight’s show we’ll hear youth poets as they share their poetry during the opening night of festivities which honored 40 years of KILI Radio, an independent, Lakota owned and operated, fm radio station. Then we’ll hear the voices of women veterans of the 1973 occupation and participants here at the 2023 50th anniversary. We’ll also hear the voice of Walaa, a Palestinian from Hebron who stands in solidarity with the American Indian Movement and liberation of Wounded Knee.That’s tonight on Full Circle.

This week on Full Circle, we will check out the local music scene. On tonight’s show we’ll hear from Graal Swartz of Soul Machanix.. He’ll give us a little history of the band and tell us about their upcoming show at Yoshi’s. We’ll also check in with local music advocate out of Concord, Dave Hughes. He hosts a local music show, The Beat of Diablo, he’ll share some local music and tell us where we can catch some live music here in Contra Costa County.That’s tonight on full circle

Tonight on Full Circle we’ll hear some history of First Voice by two of the founders, Michael Yoshida and Norman Jayo. We’ll also hear the opening of the 50th anniversary ceremonies honoring Wounded Knee 1973-2023 just recorded on Monday in South Dakota. And we’ll check out some stories from past award winning First Voice producers. All that and we’ll be asking for your support for kpfa tonight for the winter fund drive. Tonight’s Full Circle, discusses A Black Women’s History of the United States by Daina Ramey Berry & Kali Nicole Gross. In addition, sentient shiloh b plays excerpts of archived speeches and readings of Angela Davis, Shirley Chisholm, Fannie Lou Hamer, Ntozake Shange and Kathleen Cleaver from the Pacifica Radio Archives Voices that Changed the World Collection. All five women are contained in the powerful and important pages of A Black Women’s History of the United States because they all voice their visions of liberation, courageously resist, and assert their autonomy and authority in calling for social justice and how to achieve it. Black Women musicians provide the soundtrack to accompany and amplify these freedom dreams and calls for collective liberation. Tracy Chapman, Seinabo Sey, Alicia Keys, Andra Day, Nina Simone, and Shelly Doty with Skip the Needle are heard in this hour.
