Tonight on Full Circle with Father's Day coming we wanted to celebrate the beloved Father figures in our lives. We know that fathering is nuanced, its realities don't always match the sugar coated Hallmark holiday. On tonight's show we will hear an excerpt from "An Open Love Letter to Black Fathers" . We'll hear poetry and commentaries from sons about their fathers, and our own Cat Petru interviews her father in studio.

Tonight on Full Circle we talked about worker's rights. We spoke with representatives from Restaurant Opportunity Center, Western Service Workers Association, and Labor Attorney, Jonathan Siegel. All that and more on Full Circle.

This Full Circle show is dedicated to Oscar Lopez Rivera, the Puerto Rican political prisoner whose sentence was commuted this past January by President Obama. We will listen to excerpts from Oscar’s first public appearance in the Bay Area recorded at his welcome home event. We have an interview with son of parliamentarian Palestinian political prisoner, Marwan Barghouti, and hear about “the dark truth” of the Puerto Rican parade with an excerpt by Silvia Torres. You are in for a special treat on Full Circle tonight as we bring you a special look at the documentary film about the amazing life of Maya Angelou: And Still I Rise. The film takes us through her early career, the traumatic experience that caused her to remain silent for five years, and the people and places that shaped her amazing body of work. We have the additional honor of speaking with Maya Angelou’s son, Guy Johnson to talk about his mom and the film’s co- producer Rita Coburn Whack talks to with us about what goes into making a documentary about a national treasure.

Tonight on Full Circle we explore how the working class population extends beyond all borders and how the issues facing the labor force are as relevant today as they always have been. Tonight we also take a look at how Cinco de Mayo is celebrated as well as its relevance today, as well as how and why we celebrate International Workers Day.
