As God's people, we are cultivated into his image as we become disciples who are learning what it means to be human and part of God's new human race after the image and likeness of Jesus. Jesus expects his followers to reflect God's glory in all spheres of life through corporate worship, small groups (LIFE2Groups) and close friends. As we are cultivated as a disciple of Jesus, we need to be embedded in community, submit to the Word, and exercise spiritual disciplines.
Jesus expects His followers to Connect with the Lord and with His people for corporate worship. From the very beginning, the early church believers connected as they added believers and devoted themselves to teaching, fellowship, communion and prayer.
The church isn't a religious invention by humans that has a mission, but the divine intention of God birthed out of and for His mission. Christ builds the church, which is unstoppable and founded upon our confession that Christ is the Messiah, the Son of the Living God.
As we get a new perspective, we are sent on a mission of reconciliation as we represent Jesus and His Kingdom well because of the cross. As instruments of God's Kingdom, we are to make disciples as we live in a broken and hurting world, sharing the love of Jesus and the Good News of the Gospel with neighbors and nations.
During this season, we see wonder as our infinite God exceeds what our finite mind conceives. But at times, when someone or something falls short of what our finite mind conceives, we blunder and don't ponder the wonder. God gives us the ability to evaluate what is going on in our lives and see how God can help us grow through our circumstances.
Mary’s song in Luke 1:46-55 teaches us many life lessons about having a sweeter and deeper worship with God. Just like Mary, we are deeply impacted emotionally and spiritually by the depth of our worship and the posture of our hearts. As we worship and sing to our wonderful God, we experience God's joy, God's faithfulness and the comfort of God's promises during this Advent season.
