September 19, 2022A Picture of What Christ Has Done for Us | Sermon Audio
Pr. Nick gave a powerful, vulnerable, & moving testimony of how God walked him and his wife through the process of answering the call to come alongside families and children in crisis.
He preached from Genesis 12:1-7 & James 1:22 about obediently trusting in the Lord & following Him - even when it doesn't make sense or is hard.
✨ The only way to truly affect change in society is by the power of Jesus' name investing in one person at a time.

Pure religion is selflessly doing something without getting anything in return
Ministry to the most vulnerable is messy & difficult…sharing in suffering is not for the faint of heart.

✨Adoption is an earthly picture of what Christ has done for us…
…God can redeem anyone & anything. He is redeeming us in every way as we allow Him to step into our lives.

True obedience is Kingdom first living…
…It's considering the eternal over the temporary
…It’s not adding God into our plan but rather stepping into what God has always purposed & following Him!

Jesus forewarns His disciples that we will face challenges on account of being his followers, because the world stands opposed to Jesus
When facing hardship is natural to react in one of two ways. We are prone to either avoid or fight back.
To this Jesus responds with remember…
…You are the salt of the earth
…You are the light of the world
The first thing Jesus is speaking to here is engage.
1. Jesus calls the church to engage the culture with the Gospel
✨ You are where you are, you live where you live, you go to school or work where you go because He has purposed for you to impact those around you.
2. Jesus calls the church to shine or stand out for the Gospel
✨ As we allow the grace of Jesus to work within us and our minds are renewed by His love, the more His image and glory will shine through us.
Can you think of someone who has impacted your life to the point that you saw the glory of God in and through their lives?
✨ As we were impacted God is calling each one of us to impact someone else.

Do you have a healthy work/life balance? Do you have a healthy balance between time spent in leisure & time spent in meaningful, spiritual & biblical activity?

✨ Everything God did in the flesh while here on earth was intentional.

Jesus prioritized His relationship with the Father!
Jesus lived perfectly as He showed us how to "Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness"
1. Jesus exercised a proper work/rest balance
What He showed us in His time on earth is that you cannot handle what is before you without full reliance & trust in the One who has made you & purposed you to live.
2. Jesus exercised proper 'yes' and 'no' balance
He stayed focused on the mission & what that looks like was not meeting every need but meeting the needs His Father called Him to meet.
✨ Without clarity Jesus could not have walked that balance. If Jesus needed to do this, how much more do we need to?

Two questions for you to aid in your understanding of how you find balance in your walk with God…
A. Do you take time to cease, to rest, to refocus?
B. Do you give to God your best or your first or do you just give Him the remainder of what you have left in the tank?

August 29, 2022Never Miss an Opportunity to Rest | Sermon Audio
Have you ever been so exhausted that you could not go on doing what you were doing?
Pr. Nick gave a powerful sermon about the significance & necessity of rest from Mark 6:30-32.
✨ Rest for the soul is more that just sitting down, napping or going to sleep. It is about relationship. Turning off & spending time listening to God.
1. "Come to me" -Jesus.
Rest & relationship go hand & hand. We have to stop the things that are consuming our time & attention in order to grown in our personal relationship with God
2. "Take my yoke" -Jesus.
In this life we will face hardship for there is an enemy working against us. But Jesus' yoke is different, because He holds the weight. He takes on the burden & gives us relief.
3. "Learn from me" - Jesus.
Never miss an opportunity to stop & just allow God to work in your heart. Spend time in His Word, pray & listen. Spend time. Soul restoring cannot happen if we lead ourselves or miss the opportunity.
✨ Jesus went to the cross, suffered, died & rose again, so we could be renewed & refreshed mind, body, & most importantly soul. One day He will fully restore all things.

Is it enough to simply believe that God exists? No.

Jesus, only Jesus, is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
1. Called to faith in Jesus
2. Jesus is your only way to God
3. There's no other way

✨ Jesus calls us to faith that's more than some time of "intellectual assent"
✨ Jesus did what only God could do when He died on a cross in our place and rose again to life.
✨ Jesus is the only way because He said He is the only way.
✨ Jesus is the only way. There's no other name by which we must be saved. But Christianity isn't exclusive as to whom may be saved.

What is wisdom? How do we know what is right or wise?
Our world has different perspectives on wisdom because people come from different sets of knowledge, experience, & discernment.
God's wisdom can bridge our cultural divide…
1. God's wisdom is found in God's Word
2. God's wisdom is about His Son
3. God's wisdom is revealed through His Spirit
4. God's wisdom is discerned by Jesus
✨ We have God's Word in our hands, the wisdom of God at our fingertips. We have the opportunity to know His will, His plan, His character, His love!
✨ God's wisdom is opposite of human wisdom, & it is why it can build bridges across our cultural divide, but we cannot understand it from our perspective.
✨ The Holy Spirit is the one who shows you your need for Jesus. He shows you your sin & lifts your burden when you repent
✨ Jesus is able to bridge the cultural divide
Are you ready to trust Him with all your impassible barriers?

We have all experienced times when things do not go as planned or are outside of our control, so how should we as believers react or what should our position be?
Aaron Bogott gave a powerful sermon entitled "If the Lord Wills" from James 4:13-17. He talked about how sometimes things don't always go how we planned or wanted them to go and how God's plan is so much better than our own. He gives us what we truly need and not simply what we want in the moment.
Pride can be subtle.

Our will must be submitted to His will.

Plans for tomorrow should not stop us from doing good today.

We should not get stuck in just planning and planning properly under the Lord’s will, but we should also execute the good we know about and just do it.
✨ We can’t wait for the main event to start our ministry, it is about being faithful in the little things, day by day.
✨ We were not created to just sit around until the Lord returns. He has created us for good works and for each one of us this may look different based upon who He’s created us to be.

"For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them." --Ephesians 2:10.
Sermon Outline
God fashions broken people into a masterpiece displaying His wisdom through Jesus.
Glorious Up-Cycle: Although we were dead in our sins, God made us alive with Christ and the believer in Jesus is a new creation—an original masterpiece.

Glorious Purpose: God is shaping the believer into the image of Christ to do good works.

Glorious Church: God’s reveals His grand masterpiece, the church, by uniting believers in Christ.
Take-Home Applications
Read Ephesians and underline every time you see the phrase “In Christ” or “In Him”

Confess your selfishness: How do you disregard the purpose for which you were created and live for yourself?

Confess your pride: How do you try to do the work God prepared for you while attempting to maintain control of your own plans?

Spend time with the Lord allowing Him to chisel away selfish, prideful thinking and shape you into the image of His Son—Jesus. (Rom 12:2)

Confess your worth

Ask God to reveal His glorious purpose for you
Use the spiritual gift survey to find the ways God has prepared for you.

What are God’s commands for you?

What has God made you passionate about?

Write a personal purpose/vision statement: How would you want people to think of you in 3-5 years?
