This Sunday, as we began our "Living A Better Story" series, the scripture was John 3:1-3. Every life is a story and you and I are living our story right now. But are we living the story we want to live? Are we living the story God wants us to live? Do we want to live a better story? How do we do that? These are the questions we will be dealing with over the next six weeks culminating in an experience for us individually, in our families, and as a church that will be transformative.

This Sunday I preached what I think is the most important sermon I have preached since coming here last July. One reason I believe this is because this Sunday began a six-week series in both traditional and modern worship we are calling Living A Better Story.

I will be preaching from Matthew 3:13-17 and the sermon is titled “What’s The Big Deal About Baptism?” That’s what we’re going to talk about – the big deal of baptism and what it means for us. So what is the big deal about baptism? Is it the amount of water used? Is it the age of the person baptized? Or is it something else? What difference does it make for us?

In the modern services, The scripture is Matthew 3:13-17and the sermon is titled “RE-member”. We are talking about the importance of RE-membering what baptism is and the RE-sponsibility we have to RE-mind each other who we are (and Whose we are), where we belong, and what God is doing in and through our lives.
