Funko Inc. founder Mike Becker joins us for a discussion about building this massive company, selling it, and everything that went along with that journey.
Funko was founded in 1998 in Snohomish WA., and was originally conceived as a small project to create various low-tech, nostalgia-themed toys. Since inception, Funko has created approximately 20,000 different products in dozens of different toy lines. Maybe most recognizable, is Funko Pop!.... a line of Japanese shiba-style figurines, depicted under licenses from Disney,Star Wars, DC comics, and major sporting franchises…just to name a few.
In 2005 Mike sold the company to his good friend Brian Mariotti, and we spend a good amount of time in this podcast talking about the events leading up to the sale, and beyond. We hope you enjoy!
