May 14, 2026Video Games and Violence: Danger in Unfettered Anger?Forgive the borderline clickbait title. Spoiler alert, we didn't really discover any danger. But anyway, listen in as my guest and I explore the topic in more detail! Both of us have fairly strong opinions on the subject, but join us as we attempt to take on the role of devil's advocate and see if there really could be a case to be made in the idea that exposure to violent video games could correlate with an increased likelihood to be violent in real life. Last episode, my guest and I explored what seemed to be two relatively standard experiences with video games. This time, we explore what effect video games may have had on a former teenager with some issues dealing with his anger.Have anything to add? May 06, 2026Video Games and Violence: An Honest Reflection of OurselvesThe idea of video games affecting real-world violence has been around since I was a child. I remember forming an opinion about it when I was but a fledgling gamer who enjoyed violent video games but had no desire to commit violence in the real world. Unfortunately, this topic has made its way into the spotlight yet again in a particular court case, but instead of recording an episode in which we list out the reasons why the idea doesn't hold water, my guest and I sat down and explored whether or not our exposure to violence in video games starting from a young age has affected us in any negative ways. Come listen in on our discussion as we explore whether or not violence in video games has made us numb to violence, has instilled in us any violent impulses or tendencies, or in what other ways video games have put us in a more volatile state.Do you have any questions, comments, or experiences you'd like to share? Feel free to share it here on our dedicated blog post for discussion: https://furiouslyjoshing.blogspot.com/2026/05/discussion-video-games-and-violence.html...more1h 35minPlay
April 21, 2026Exploring Piracy: An Interview with a Former Sailor of the High SeasJoin my guest and I as we explore how piracy fits into gaming around the world.Disclaimer: This is not intended to be an endorsement or in any way condone criminal activity. This was originally going to be about piracy and anti-consumer behavior on the part of gaming companies, but, unfortunately, the rest of our intriguing discussion can't be published right now because of technical issues. I'll see if they can be resolved, or if there's another way of getting the content out into the world.Want to join the discussion? December 21, 2025Gamer Motivations: What drives us to play what we play?On today's episode, my guest and I discuss what motivates us to play what we play and what drives us to avoid what we don't play. Many of us are familiar with the memes about "relaxing" games like anything from Fromsoft or any competitive multiplayer game or the second jobs we may find ourselves having in many live service games. What keeps us coming back? We asked a lot of questions in this episode and may not have answered a single one, but we definitely gained a lot of perspective on ourselves and why we play what we play....more1h 1minPlay
