The bible warns us about the effects of offence in Hebrews 12:15: “Exercise foresight and be on the watch to look [after one another], to see that no one falls back from and fails to secure God’s grace, in order that no root of resentment (rancor, bitterness, or hatred) shoots forth and causes trouble and bitter torment, and the many become contaminated and defiled by it.”

Sitting and inactivity is now classed as the new smoking in society as this is the cause of most illnesses, and in my opinion offence and bitterness in a Christian marriage is the new adultery or physical abuse. As Christians we may not easily succumb to adultery, so the devil has now deceived us to put up with offence and bitterness which can easily cause separation and divorce in marriage.
