ESG has become an oddly controversial term these days, and it is hard to understand why good business practices would create any negativity. So, I have a previous guest back on today to talk about it and their journey.
Today we have back with us Ricky Marton formerly of Koru and now of OpenAccess Ventures. After our last discussion with Ricky, Koru was acquired by OpenAccess Ventures and rolled in to their platform. Koru provides them with the skills to find companies with good business fundamentals and to help their early stage investments foster good business practices.
So let's talk with Ricky about all the changes,
Welcome Ricky

Technology has made a lot of advancements, but one critical area has struggled to make huge gains, and that is batteries. Storing energy is critical for so much of our world, but advancements in battery tech have been hard to come by. Advancing battery technology is also important to national security. Today we are talking with a company that is working to make big changes.
I have with me Francis Wang, CEO of Nanograf, a Chicago based company that is making Silicon batteries a reality. So much of battery development has focused on the Cathode, the positive end, and not much has been done with the Anode, or the negative end. By swapping out the graphite Anode for Silicon, we can have denser, longer lasting batteries that don't rely on sourcing materials from adversarial countries.
So let's talk with Francis about the state of the art in battery tech.
Welcome Francis

Using AI for Better Healthcare Advocacy: My Heel Pain Journey
In this video, I share my frustrating experience with heel pain and the challenges I faced navigating the U.S. healthcare system. After dealing with inconsistent diagnoses, I turned to AI, specifically Claude AI by Anthropic, to help guide me in finding potential diagnoses for my condition. By providing the AI with detailed information about my symptoms and history, I was able to generate a list of possible conditions and suggested follow-ups to discuss with my doctor. This approach helped make my medical consultations more productive and may offer a way to use AI as a valuable tool in advocating for better healthcare. Please remember, this is not a substitute for professional medical advice.
