Anneli is the CEO and Co-Founder of Tangible, a software platform for sustainable building materials. Before Tangible, Anneli built her expertise in the world of real estate sustainability; she worked for The Better Buildings Partnership in London before helping real estate sustainability consultancy Longevity Partners open up their U.S. operations.

Anneli has always been fascinated by the intersection of people and their environments. She studied Anthropology and Environmental Science & Public Policy at Harvard University, and later got a master’s degree in Sustainable Urban Planning & Design at KTH in Stockholm.

Anneli has lived in several cities across the U.S. and Europe and now lives in San Francisco.

David is Head of Net Zero Innovation in EDF’s Research and Development team based in the UK. His mission is to lead innovations that accelerate the world’s journey towards net zero. David has two decades of international experience in sustainability and innovation, living and working in the UK, France and China.

After gaining an MSc from Imperial College, the first half of David’s career was in sustainability strategy, first in the development of climate and social commitments for EDF in the UK, then later based in Paris as part of EDF’s global Sustainable Development team. After returning to the UK, David took the role of Head of Digital Innovation, leading a team of developers and data scientists to explore cutting-edge digital technologies emerging from the best academic research centres and technology labs. He then moved to Beijing, China, to build a new digital innovation team. Again, the team was hands-on with cutting-edge tech in partnership with some of China’s leading businesses, startups and researchers. He returned to the UK in summer 2022. The potential for technology to help tackle climate change remains a guiding theme throughout.

David is a Fellow of the RSA and a visiting lecturer at the University of Exeter Business School. Formerly, he was a Non-Executive Director of Exeter Science Park and was on the advisory board of the UK Government’s All Party Parliamentary Group on Artificial Intelligence.

Henry is CEO of Big White Wall, a digital 24/7, clinically moderated, anonymous peer-to-peer community for those with anxiety and depression. Henry has over 25 years of experience in disruptive services and technology companies. Most recently, before the acquisition of Aconex by Oracle, Henry was Executive Vice President for International Growth at Aconex. During his time there he was part of the executive team that managed the successful IPO in 2014, the acquisition of the largest competitor in Europe in 2016 and the sale of Aconex to Oracle in 2018.

This episode I’ll be interviewing Alice Leung, investor at Brick and Mortar Ventures based in San Francisco, hearing about her work investing in startups that disrupt the way we design, construct and maintain the built world.

Alice started her career in the AEC industry with DPR Construction in the San Francisco Bay Area building UCSF Medical Center at Mission Bay and Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford. She led the Bay Area Skunkworks group and implemented various construction technologies on project sites. In April 2016, Alice relocated to Singapore to help start up the Southeast Asia HQ for DPR Construction as the resident BIM/VDC and construction technology expert and worked on data center projects. She was part of various workgroups led by the Singapore Building and Construction Authority (BCA), was a part-time lecturer for the BCA Academy BIM Management Certification Course, taught BIM courses for RICS and spoke at various conferences in the region. She joined the Digital Built Environment Institute(DBEI) organizing committee whilst in Asia and is now part of the DBEI North America Committee since her relocation back to San Francisco. After realizing the slow pace of digitization in the construction industry, Alice joined the Brick & Mortar Ventures team to work with startups that want to disrupt the way we design, construct and maintain the built world.

Offsite manufacturing goes back to the end of World War One and is now considered critical to our sector. What led to the inception of this process, what are the benefits and how does this align with the UK's National Infrastructure Delivery Plan?

Peter Mildon is a Co-founder and COO of Vivacity Labs. He comes from an engineering background, meeting his co-founder at university designing and building a solar powered car. They founded Vivacity in late 2015 with a view to bring Artificial Intelligence into the road infrastructure space and have launched an Intellegent video sensor and traffic prediction product to date.
