  • Ep. 15 - Aaron Traywick of Ascendance Biomedical

In this installment of the Future Grind podcast, host Ryan O'Shea speaks with Ascendance Biomedical CEO Aaron Traywick. Aaron is a controversial figure that seeks to democratize access to unregulated, experimental, and some would say potentially dangerous medical treatments and enhancements. An experimental HIV treatment that his company created is currently being tested in a human, and Aaron recently made headlines when he injected himself with an experimental herpes treatment while one stage at the BDYHAX human augmentation conference in Austin. He hopes to prove these treatments safe and them make them available to others who would like to access them. Warning: Self-administering any type of unregulated gene-therapy or other treatment is risky. Anything that Aaron mentions during this interview should be viewed as experimental research compounds not intended for human use. I encourage you to consult your doctor with any questions. Despite the controversy surrounding Aaron and his work, I feel that this conversation is an important one to have. I was very interested in his background and the philosophy behind his work, and I think that you will be as well. For better or worse, DIY gene therapy will only continue to grow. Aaron has positioned himself near the forefront of this movement, and I think we'd all be better served if we understood more about it.

  • Ep. 13 - The Future is Meow with Meow-Ludo Meow-Meow

In this episode of the Future Grind podcast, host Ryan O'Shea speaks with Australia's own Meow-Ludo Disco Gamma Meow-Meow. Meow - and yes, that's his real name - was crowned a "True Leaders Game Changer" by the Australian Financial Review for his efforts to democratize science and technology. These efforts include co-founding Australia's first open-access molecular biology lab, BioFoundry, in 2014 and being the Science Party candidate for an Australian House of Representatives seat in 2017. • Ep. 12 - The Lepht Anonym Interview

In this episode of the Future Grind podcast, host Ryan O'Shea speaks with the controversial, semi-anonymous, and enigmatic biohacking pioneer Lepht Anonym. Lepht has been featured by WIRED and the BBC and has been documenting it's biohacking experiments on its blog, Sapiens Anonym, since 2007.

Lepht is most well known for a 2010 talk titled "Cybernetics for the Masses" that it gave in at the 27th Chaos Communication Congress in Berlin, Germany, which detailed Lepht's DIY self-surgery & "homebrewed" implants. This has been referred to as "Scrapheap Tranhumanism", which is also the title of a 2010 article that Lepht wrote for Humanity+ Magazine.

*A word of warning - Biohacking is dangerous and things can go wrong. I strongly advise against self-surgery of any kind, and you should consult with a trained medical doctor before moving forward with any type of human augmentation.
