  • November Election: Faith is on the Ballot
The clock is ticking and the calendar pages are turning as we approach the November 3rd election, one week from today. What's on the ballot? It's socialism vs. capitalism. Abortion vs life. Many genders vs. male & female. Anti-Israel or pro-Israel. Secure borders or open borders. The abolition of police or law enforcement. The advancement of Islam or the advancement of Christian values. Indeed, faith is on the ballot. You must realize that those who are victorious in this election will vote on issues like these one way or the other. The control of the U.S. House and Senate weighs in the balance. But it's not only Washington DC, it's your state offices, your state legislatures, your courts, your sheriffs, your referendum questions and the list goes on. There will be decisions made that will impact and shape your schools, your courts, your communities. Former U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower said, "The future of this republic is in the hands of the American voter." We must recognize both the wonderful privilege we have and with that comes an important duty, a stewardship before God. That's why the guest on this edition of Crosstalk is urging Christians to get off the sideline. That guest was Debbie Wuthnow. Debbie is president of iVoterGuide, a division of American Family Association Action. She was named president in 2018. They provide information on many thousands of candidates in thousands of races nationwide. What can we learn from the 2020 mid-term election? Will this election bring momentum to the 2028 presidential election? How extensive is the information presented by ivoterguide? Get the answers on this edition of Crosstalk!

  • The Amazing Love of God
This sermon explores the incomprehensible depth of God's love, emphasizing that salvation is initiated by God rather than earned by human effort. Drawing primarily from John 3:16 and 1 John 4, the message asserts that God loved humanity before the foundation of the world and sent His Son as a propitiation for sin, not to condemn but to save. The speaker illustrates this truth through personal testimony and a mission story in Kosovo, highlighting how the gospel reaches even those who feel unworthy or bound by past failures. By referencing Jesus' reading of Isaiah 61, the sermon presents the Spirit's anointing as a call to bring freedom to the poor, healing to the brokenhearted, and liberty to the captives. The tone is pastoral and inviting, urging listeners to receive this unmerited grace immediately, recognizing that God's love is the sole reason for their redemption and future hope.

  • Facing The Future
This sermon on Ecclesiastes 11:1-6 urges believers to face an uncertain future with prudent enterprise and persistent diligence, ultimately resting in Christ. The preacher explains that we must cast our bread upon the watersโ€”taking bold initiative in trade and callingโ€”while diversifying efforts ("to seven and also to eight") because we do not know what evil may come. Paralysis from overthinking clouds, wind, or life's mysteries is rejected; instead, we are called to sow diligently morning and evening, trusting that what will be, will be. Yet these practical exhortations rest on the deeper reality that God alone knows and ordains the future. In Christ we receive His perfect righteousness, so our standing is secure regardless of earthly outcomes. United to the sovereign Lord who holds all things, we are freed from anxiety to act boldly yet prudently and to labor persistently, following the example of the One who walked this path in dependence upon His Father and who will return to vindicate His people. Only those joined to Christ possess the resources to face the future without fear.

  • The King & His Kingdom
This sermon explores the sixth priority in Jesus' training of the twelve disciples: an understanding of the King and His future kingdom. The central message defines the kingdom as an 'already not yet' reality, where believers are currently spiritual citizens awaiting the physical inauguration of God's eternal rule. The preacher argues that the primary method for preparing people for this kingdom is the exalted priority of preaching, viewing preachers as heralds sent by the King to deliver His authoritative message. Finally, the sermon identifies the church as the King's mission during the interim period between His first and second comings, urging believers to immerse themselves in local church life, prioritize faithful preaching, and live with heavenly priorities until the King returns.

  • The Gospel and Its Demands
This sermon examines Mark 1:14-15, focusing on the content and demands of Jesus' initial proclamation in Galilee. The central message declares that the time of fulfillment has arrived and the kingdom of God is present, requiring a response of repentance and faith. The exposition defines the kingdom not merely as a future political entity but as the current rule of Christ over redeemed citizens, emphasizing that salvation restores sinners to their proper place under God's reign. The preacher distinguishes between the historical facts of the gospel and the theological reality of the kingdom, arguing that genuine faith involves knowledge, assent, and personal trust in Christ alone. Finally, the sermon clarifies the relationship between faith and repentance, asserting that while both are necessary for conversion, faith is the means by which one appropriates Christ, and repentance is the inevitable fruit of that trust, urging believers to rely entirely on God's grace for their salvation and sanctification.
