  • The Israel of God XIII
The sermon argues that the New Testament serves as the authoritative guide for interpreting Old Testament promises to Israel, rejecting the dispensational view of a future ethnic national restoration. By analyzing Amos 9 and Jeremiah 31 in light of the NT, the Bible demonstrates that these prophecies find their fulfillment in Jesus Christ and the church. The preacher contends that limiting Old Testament promises to physical Jews creates a contradiction with the New Testament's clear teaching on the universal scope of the New Covenant. Consequently, believers must allow the New Testament to define the meaning of Old Testament texts rather than forcing the New Testament to fit preconceived literal interpretations.

  • The Farmer, the Rich Man, and the Return of Christ
The sermon explores the biblical command for believers to exercise long-suffering patience while awaiting the Lord's return, using the metaphor of a farmer waiting for harvest. It contrasts the corrupt, immediate greed of the rich with the faithful, future-oriented hope of the righteous who trust in God's ultimate justice. By referencing the endurance of prophets like Jeremiah and Daniel, as well as Job, the text encourages Christians to remain steadfast and active in opposing evil without resorting to vengeance. The message emphasizes that while believers must sound the alarm against injustice, they must ultimately leave judgment to God, maintaining a Christ-honoring witness amidst frustration. This perspective offers comfort by affirming that God sees all wrongs and will restore righteousness in His perfect timing. What does James 5:7-11 mean? What does it mean to "be patient until the coming of the Lord"? What is biblical patience? How should Christians respond to injustice? Why does God allow evil people to prosper? What does "the Judge standeth before the door" mean? Is the return of Jesus imminent? What does it mean to establish your heart? What is the difference between patience and passivity? What does the farmer represent in James 5? What is the "precious fruit of the earth" in James 5? Why does James compare Christians to a farmer? What are the early and latter rains in the Bible? Does James teach the imminent return of Christ? Should Christians fight against evil? Should Christians expose evil? Does the Bible tell Christians to seek justice? How can Christians be patient while waiting for Christ? What does "grudge not one against another" mean?

  • Set the Lord Always Before Me (Remastered)
What is the secret to a life of spiritual longevity? How did saints of old overcome the daily battle of temptation and trouble? In this sermon on Psalm 16:8 titled "… Set the Lord Always Before Me," Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones expounds on this psalm of David to share this secret. It is the daily decision to actively set the Lord always before oneself. This daily spiritual discipline enables the Christian to face the uncertainty of the future without fear as one considers who the Lord is and who they are to Him. Dr. Lloyd-Jones encourages with a gracious reminder that there are two things the Christian can do to "set the Lord before us." First, they must make an active decision to consciously remind themselves of God. It is an act of determination to think on the Lord and what He has done; otherwise their lives will be swept into busyness and God becomes secondary in thoughts and affections. Secondly, after one sets their hearts steadfastly on seeking the presence of God, they turn to the means of communion with God. Christians seek Him through prayer and reading Scripture. They are the means of communing with God on days when one feels like seeking Him as well as the days their hearts feel cold and distant from Him. Find encouragement from Dr. Lloyd-Jones's preaching on David's resolute desire to battle temptation and find comfort in setting the Lord always before him.

  • Devo 77: Making Major Decisions
The devotional emphasizes the profound spiritual and eternal consequences of major decisions, using Joshua's treaty with the Gibeonites as a cautionary example. It highlights the danger of making binding commitments—whether verbal or written—without seeking God's guidance, especially when critical information is withheld or misrepresented. The central message is that a Christian's word must be as binding as a signed contract, and failure to honor it undermines one's integrity and witness. The preacher urges believers to seek divine peace and discernment before committing time, money, or resources, warning that even seemingly ideal opportunities may be deceptive if they lack God's approval. Ultimately, the lesson is one of humility, prayerful dependence, and the recognition that every decision carries long-range effects that extend beyond the individual to future generations.

  • 1 Mark 13—The Second Coming? Or 70 A.D.?
What did Jesus really mean in the Olivet Discourse? Was He predicting the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 A.D. or describing His Second Coming? … Or both? In this study of Mark 13:1–4, we examine one of the most debated passages in Scripture. You'll learn why faithful Bible-believing Christians have disagreed over this chapter for centuries, compare preterism, futurism, and the dual-fulfillment view, and discover how the rest of the New Testament helps interpret Jesus' words. Rather than defending a theological system, this message follows the biblical text wherever it leads, showing how prophecy is meant not to divide believers, but to encourage one another as we await Christ's return (1 Thessalonians 4:18). My sermons are the fruit of nearly 30 years of pastoral ministry, biblical counseling, formal seminary training, and a lifelong passion for God's Word. Since childhood, I've been drawn to the beauty and power of expository preaching—opening Scripture verse by verse and applying it to real life. After graduating from Moody Bible Institute, I spent the next 27 years serving as a youth pastor, senior pastor, church planter, and host of the Food For Your Soul radio broadcast. Along the way, I also earned a Master of Sacred Literature and a Doctor of Religious Studies. For more content from D. Richard Ferguson, visit TreasuringGod.com.
