  • 24 2 Timothy lesson 9 end
This lesson examines 2 Timothy 2:19, emphasizing that the firm foundation of God remains immovable despite the presence of false teaching within the church. The discussion highlights the theological distinction between positional truth, where believers are raised with Christ, and the future bodily resurrection, correcting the errors of those who deny the latter. The 'seal' of God is presented as a guarantee of ownership and authenticity, assuring believers of their security without the need for self-effort. Consequently, those who claim the name of the Lord are called to abstain from wickedness, which is defined as stepping away from unsound doctrine to maintain the purity of the body. The sermon concludes with the assurance that God's faithfulness, not human understanding, secures the believer's standing.

  • 033 - Raised from the Dead [B]
What is the evidence for the bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ, and why is it essential to the gospel? In 1 Thessalonians 1:10, Paul identifies Jesus as the One whom God raised from the dead and for whose return believers eagerly wait. This study examines the biblical and historical evidence for Christ's resurrection, including His physical death, burial, empty tomb, and numerous eyewitness appearances. The resurrection is not a secondary doctrine but a foundational truth of the gospel, validating Christ's payment for sin and guaranteeing the believer's future resurrection. Because Christ conquered death, we can confidently anticipate His return and our eternal life with Him.

  • 24 Daniel
Daniel is now in the government of the Medes and the Persians who conquered the Babylonians in October of 539 B.C. Daniel who had been in the Babylonian government of Nebuchadnezzar remained in the government in a leadership role when Darius the Mede assumed control in 539 B.C. Daniel who realized that the prophet Jeremiah had been the last prophet in the area of Judea under king Zedekiah warned him of the impending Godly judgment if Zedekiah did not follow His warnings. In his book Jeremiah received the prophecy from God as too how long the Babylonians would control Jerusalem (In Jeremiah 25:11-12 and Jeremiah 29:10). Knowing that the ruin of Jerusalem (desolations) would have a termination date, Daniel begins praying for the future of Jerusalem and the nation Israel.

  • Celebrating God's Faithfulness
In 1925, Mr Charles Trout started the East Berlin Nondenominational Sunday School, believing that every community needed to hear God's Word. In 1958, the Sunday School called their first pastor, Mr. Alexander Mattern and took steps to become the East Berlin Community Church. On Sunday, we celebrated the 100 year anniversary of the Sunday School and Church. With the uncertainty surrounding the future of the church with Pastor's retirement at the end of the year, we chose today to focus on the faithfulness of God! After recounting the history of the church we looked at Psalm 89, the contemplation of Ethan who lived in uncertain times. He too chose to celebrate God's faithfulness which is celebrated in heaven and seen in God's faithfulness to David. From what we learned about God's faithful character, the sermon ends with a few examples of God's faithfulness to the church family at EBCC. The fact that the church still exists is a testament to the faithfulness of our God!

  • An Insider's Look into the New Jerusalem, Part 2
The New Jerusalem is not just about our new home where we will dwell with God on the new earth. It is also a monument to God's faithfulness to Israel and the Church. • When Babies Go to Heaven, Do They Get a Halo, Harp and Wings?
    ### Christians in Heaven ≠ Harp, Halo, Wings **Sunday School Lesson — Pastor Ed Decker** This lesson examines what the Bible teaches about heaven, the resurrection, and the future of believers. Through passages from 1 Corinthians 13, 1 Thessalonians 4:13–17, Matthew 18:3–12, and Mark 12:18, the lesson directs attention away from popular cultural images and toward the testimony of Scripture. First Corinthians 13 contrasts our present, partial understanding with the fuller understanding associated with that which is perfect. First Thessalonians 4 provides the comforting promise of Christ's return, the resurrection of the dead in Christ, and the gathering of believers to be with the Lord. Matthew 18 addresses humility, conversion, the example of little children, and Christ's warning concerning the little ones. Mark 12:18 introduces the Sadducees, who questioned the resurrection, providing an opportunity to consider the biblical teaching concerning life after death. Together, these passages encourage believers to distinguish what Scripture actually says from assumptions that have developed through tradition, artistic representation, and popular imagination. **Central takeaway:** Our understanding of eternity should be grounded in the Word of God. The Christian hope is not founded on harps, halos, or wings, but on the promises of God and the assurance of being with the Lord. **Key Scripture:** 1 Thessalonians 4:17 (KJV) — "and so shall we ever be with the Lord."

  • Redemption Fulfilled
We have spoken of the reality of the Love of God. We have been reminded that the eternal redemption accomplished by the work and person of Jesus were always the plan of God. This redemption is NOT an afterthought, it is the purpose of God accomplished in the fullness of time. He has chosen us before the foundations of the world, called us with an effectual calling which at the instant of its working made us alive through regeneration… with that regenerating work of the Holy Spirit God also imparts to us faith and makes us repent… This is not a partial thing, it is a soul transforming, mind renewing, desire imparting reality that alters every single part of who and what we are… and it is ours because of Christ Jesus and His finished work for the redemption of His own bride!

  • "I Know That My Redeemer Lives"
The sermon examines the theological tension between the friends' retributive worldview and Job's persistent faith in a sovereign God who allows suffering for his own purposes and his people's good. It highlights Job's rejection of the accusation that his pain is direct punishment for hidden sin, instead affirming that God is the ultimate actor in his life, even when His ways are mysterious. The central focus is Job's declaration that his Redeemer lives, interpreted through the lens of the kinsman-redeemer concept and the Christian hope of a present paraclete. This hope provides comfort in the midst of isolation and injustice, pointing toward a future where God restores righteousness and vindicates the afflicted. The message encourages believers to lament honestly before God, trusting that He is present in their trials and that ultimate justice and restoration are assured.
