June 22, 2024 Convergence: Bringing Legacy Finance On-Chain w/ founder Uwe
I spoke with Uwe, co-founder of Convergence, about their goal to create an open standard for institutional over-the-counter (OTC) trading on blockchains. We dove into the details around their request-for-quote (RFQ) model that allows large traders and institutions to minimize slippage when moving significant funds.
Uwe explained how their partial collateralization approach increases capital efficiency compared to fully locked collateral for things like derivatives trading. Their protocol also enables traders to whitelist specific wallet addresses to transact with, adding an element of permission and trust.
We discussed the convergence token, which will allow holders to vote on policies like margin requirements or collateral thresholds per Venue. So users can dictate the risk parameters of the Venues they interact with based on their convergence stakes
With the roadmap also including convergence bot launching its own token, the overarching vision aims to bridge traditional finance comprehensively into DeFi in a decentralized, user-controlled manner.

Today I spoke with Tommy and Taylor from ArmadaFi, the token economy infrastructure protocol on Solana, about their goal of simplifying token projects. They broke down ArmadaFi's 3 stage system encompassing smooth token launches, liquidity solutions, and transparent tokenomics suites.
We discussed key learnings from some of their early experiments with launches like flowmatic and Cypher, including the importance of setting proper user expectations and explaining mechanisms clearly. They also shared perspective on the limitations of existing governance systems like SPL Gov and the need for more modular and cost-effective tools.
A key theme throughout was their mission to create reusable frameworks and toolkits for token projects rather than teams burning runway constantly reinventing the wheel. They covered planned upgrades like migrating PsyFi to their staking and tokenomics packages as an example.
Tommy and Taylor also analyzed common incentives like point systems, highlighting the pitfalls around transparency versus utilizing tokens directly. By the end, their call to action to Solana teams was clear - leverage what ArmadaFi is building instead of building duplicative tools!
