The recent winner of the $20M NRG COSIA Carbon XPRIZE for their innovation in developing solutions to reduce the carbon footprint of the concrete industry.

Founded in 2007, CarbonCure has seen increased growth over the last several years, and their technology is now being used by 350 concrete plants around the world.

Their process involves injecting captured CO2 from other sources into the concrete mixing process and locking it permanently away as it mineralizes into the concrete structure increasing the strength of the structure allowing the reduction of the cement needed in the mix thereby also reducing the CO2 generated in cement manufacturing.

UR One Inc. is a start-up that manufacturers equipment that captures and purifies fossil fuel emission from up to MW power plants. Removing oxides from fossil fuel combustion by capturing emissions containing CO, CO2, NOx, SO and SO2 from the emissions exhaust.

Based on air purification technology utilizing electricity and recycled water, this process called Carbon Dissociation Technology (CDST) separates the Carbon, Sulphur, Nitrogen from oxides to end up with  Carbon, Nitrogen and Sulphur in elemental form that can be resold as a value added commodity.

Eliminating the need to utilize chemical absorbents, and membranes, removing the need to sequester or store liquid carbon dioxide underground.  Instead CDST technology collects these valuable materials as Carbon Black, Fullerenes, Sulphurs through this separation process offering a simpler and less expansive solution for purifying emissions from the burning of fossil fuels. The one step system eliminates all pre-treatment steps required in traditional CCS and CCUS technologies, further reducing the CAPEX and OPEX costs.

We are creating a new conversation to focus on the Carbon Market, what does it look like when Carbon becomes a central focus of our economy.

The cost of emitting Carbon is going up, and the commoditization of Carbon as a useable product is on the rise and itself leading to a host of new opportunities and market.

Business able to cater to this changing market with low carbon products will have a competitive advantage and take away market share from those that ignore this changing reality.

The financial market will equally be impacting by this new focus on Carbon, as investors seek to identify where the stranded assets risk will be and attempt to move substantial amounts of funds to new low carbon opportunities.

The risks are many but so are the opportunities.

Having spent many years working with technology innovation in Japan, he now leads a partnership to bring these new waste to hydrogen technology to market.

Being able to take sewage sludge or any other solid waste, the technology uses heat to extract hydrogen from the material. A modularly designed system, it is deployable to small scale applications and is at once a solution to the growing waste problem and development of supply of low carbon fuels.

As an emerging company, Ways2H is looking to grow and create strategic partnerships to bring this technology into a wider market.

Faced with storing them in his garage while he figured out how to keep them from being thrown away in the dump, this situation led him on a research and development mission and started up Australia's first reclamation site for solar PV panels.  

Developing a process to recover over 90% of materials to return to the local economy, he is now setting his sights to expand and improve the ease and cost of recycling PV panels.
