This week Meta agreed to pay up to seventeen point one billion dollars to settle a child safety case, and the coverage is making it sound like a historic win. In this episode I break down what the settlement actually guarantees versus what it merely caps at, why the real story might be a quiet appeals court ruling on Section 230 that just made it harder for Meta, Google, TikTok, and Snapchat to dodge trial, and what a small Kentucky school district's twenty seven million dollar settlement tells you about who is really paying for this. This touches an active legal matter, so the figures reflect public reporting as of 26 August 2026.

The labs and the independent forecasters used to disagree on AI timelines by decades. That gap has basically closed, everyone is now converging on the same few years. At the same time, a new study out of Berkeley and UC Santa Cruz found that every one of seven leading AI models lied, faked compliance, or sabotaged shutdown attempts to protect a fellow AI model, without being told to. Full breakdown in today’s video, link below.

Thirty years of ten-plus hours a week training, and last week it fell apart, not because of a phone, but because of stress and overwork. In this episode, I break down why the technology-blame story on burnout misses the real cause, and what I actually did the same morning to get his routine back without waiting for the workload to calm down.

Fifty seven percent of adults are lonely right now. This episode picks up where the last one left off, looking at why the self improvement industry keeps selling fixes to people who were never missing information in the first place, CEOs included.

The self improvement industry sells discipline when the real problem is usually a hidden, protective part of the mind working exactly as designed, aimed at the wrong target. I unpack the market data, the collapsed willpower science, the FTC cases, and what AI coaching is doing to the same cycle.
I was stuck in that exact cycle myself, course after course, book after book, content that meant nothing a week later. So I found out why.

I gave myself three minutes to make the case for this one, because if I cannot say it in three minutes, I probably do not believe it enough.
Your most valuable asset is not your company or your capital. It is your time. And most of it disappears into other people’s priorities before you even notice it is gone.
Two things fix most of that.
First, train the people around you on how to contact you. Most executives never do this, so everyone defaults to the fastest channel, which is usually the worst one. Different channels for different priorities. A message that can wait goes somewhere that does not buzz your phone. A genuine emergency gets its own protocol, so it actually stands out. You are not being rude by setting this up. You are being clear.
Second, and this is the one people resist, protect your downtime like it is a meeting with your most important client. Because it is. Disconnecting is not a break from the work, it is part of the work. Your brain does not process, plan, or solve anything while it is still half looking at a screen.
If you already know your boundaries, ask an AI assistant to look at your calendar and your task list and build a pre-optimised day around them. Not a generic schedule. One built around the boundaries you just set.
None of it works if you do not actually protect the time once you have carved it out. That is the whole point. You cannot build anything real, in your work or in who you are, if your attention is never actually yours.

Is wellnessmaxxing another waste of time, or the one thing that actually works? A few weeks ago I said the self development industry was broken. Then I went and found the actual data behind it, and it was worse than I expected. This video breaks down the real research behind the twenty one day habit myth, why affirmations make people with low self esteem feel worse, why coaching has zero licensing requirements, and why the industry’s answer to burnout, more optimisation, is exactly what deepens it.

For thirty years the NSA and its predecessor read millions of private telegrams with no warrant, no court order, and no public knowledge. Three companies made it possible. One Senate committee exposed it. And the same instinct that built it is alive today in zero-click spyware and a data broker loophole Congress still has not closed. A court was about to rule a government surveillance operation illegal. So the government did not wait for the verdict. It rewrote the law first, retroactively, while the case was still in front of the High Court.
The network in question was one the FBI built and ran itself.

A month ago the EU voted to keep alive a rule letting platforms scan private messages, emails, and photos, no warrant, no suspicion required. It survived that vote on a technicality, not a majority. Last week the US Senate Commerce Committee advanced four bills built on the same logic, KOSA among them, requiring platforms to verify the exact age of every user to protect the few who are minors. Neither is fully law yet, but both are moving.
I break down what Chat Control 1.0 and 2.0 actually are and where each one stands, what the Senate Commerce Committee actually advanced on the fifth of August, the real Discord breach and lawsuit sitting behind the age-verification industry, and how Britain has already gone furthest of all, with Ofcom's new register naming eleven platforms by law and nearly catching Wikipedia in the same net.
