In the fifth episode of the FilDiwan podcast, writer and journalist Omar Taher talks about his beginnings in journalism and how that experience influenced his later writing across different forms — from articles, poetry, and stories to novels and screenplays.

He discusses his first book, “Shaklaha Bazet”, how it opened the door for other works in the same genre, and why he chose satirical literature in particular.

Taher also talks about the craft of writing and his experience with documentary books such as “Sanay‘eyet Masr” and “Iza‘at Al-Aghani”, explaining how these works represented a different kind of writing compared to his earlier ones, and how “Sanay‘eyet Masr” changed when adapted into a TV series.

He shares his experience writing for different media — including films, songs, and animation, such as “Super Henedy” — explaining how this kind of writing differs from books and how he learned to move between them.
