On August 13th, Mayor Kim Driscoll, Acting Police Chief Dennis King, Health Agent David Greenbaum, City Planner Tom Daniel, Economic Planner Katheryn Newhall-Smith, NSMC President Dr. David Roberts, and Kate Fox of Destination Salem held a town hall with Salem’s small business community to answer their questions about the COVID-19 situation in Salem.

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health has upgraded Salem's alert level for COVID-19 from their "Yellow" category to their "Red" category.

The contract for the Essex Street Roadway Improvement Project has been awarded and work is scheduled to begin in November.
