Welcome to
GAETC: The Podcast! This is Lee, and for this episode, I'm going it alone—what I'm calling a "solo bolo." My usual crew was busy, but I wanted to make sure you all got some updates, so I'm talking to myself for a minute, which my therapist definitely would not recommend. The Georgia Educational Technology Conference is just a couple of months away, and I've been busy reaching out to a bunch of amazing people. We've got our featured speakers, our Rising Star winners, and even the folks on Creators Row. I'll also be chatting with tech directors, superintendents, and anyone else who wants to jump on and talk about the cool stuff happening in their districts. I want to hear about their victories, their fears, and why educational technology is so important.I'm really excited to announce a couple of our featured guests for upcoming episodes:
- First up, we have Rick Williams from Floyd County Schools. He's a film, arts, and media teacher who came to education from the industry, so he has a ton of real-world experience to share with his students.
- Then there's Samantha Palmer from Decatur County Schools, an elementary media specialist. I think media specialists play such a huge role—they're the instructional coach, the tech coach, and so much more.
For those of you who might be new to the conference, I have a piece of advice for you: wear comfortable shoes! Don't feel like you have to do everything. It's a jam-packed three days, and by Friday, your brain is going to be full. So take some time to sit down, breathe, and just absorb what you can.Stay tuned because we're going to have a lot more coming your way. I'm hoping to drop a couple of episodes a week as we get closer to the conference. If you know a leader who's doing great things with edtech, please have them reach out! What's ordinary to you is often extraordinary to someone else, and I'd love to share that good news. You can get a hold of me at
