One of the most impressive places in Sri Lanka is Sigiriya, a site often named the 8th wonder of the world. Sigiriya was also home to an ancient city that sat atop the monolithic rock towering 650 feet over the town of Dambulla in the Matale District of Sri Lanka. The site attracts thousands of tourists daily and has been a UNESCO heritage site since 1982. Many believe that the giant monolithic rock looks unnatural because of its perfectly flat top, which almost looks like it's been cut at a precise angle. The locals believe this ancient site was built thousands of years ago by an ancient Hindu god, named Ravana, who was part of an advanced race of beings known as the Asura. These deities are said to have come down from the sky and ruled over portions of humanity. There are strange scoop marks and holes in the rock, and at the top, there are bricks, marble blocks, and an enormous granite water tank found in the middle of the site. How all of them were built and how ancient carried the materials to the top is still unexplained.

The remote and rugged region in the North Caucasus, in the Kabardino-Balkaria Republic of the Russian Federation, is a place of towering mountains and untamed wilderness. Yet, in 2011, Arthur Zhemukhov, who is a Russian speleologist, which is the scientific study and exploration of caves, made an astonishing discovery at the Khara-Hora mountain peak. There, he found a deep, narrow, vertical shaft, seemingly swallowed by the Earth itself. It was made of parallel stone slabs that seemed perfectly geometrical as if they were artificially made. The walls were straight and polished, extending 40 meters or 130 feet deep into the mountain, before opening into a wide underground hall. The straight walls of this shaft were constructed from large megalithic blocks that fitted together at right angles with minimal gaps. There were even large stones that looked like columns.

استمرت مهمات الزوجين غيفورك وغوهار فارتانيان في بلدان مختلفة أكثر من 40 عاما.. أقاما خلالها في العديد من البلدان تحت أسماء مستعارة.

ولعبت المعلومات التي حصلا عليها دورا استثنائيا في سياسة الاتحاد السوفيتي الخارجية. وفي خريف العام 1986 عاد الزوجان إلى الوطن من آخر مهمة لهما في الخارج. 

وحتى بعد ربع قرن من العودة إلى الوطن، لم يكن بإمكان فارتانيان أن يتحدث إلا عن جزء يسير من حياته الغنية والسرية للغاية. وفي عام 2000 قام ضيفنا في هذه الحلقة نائب رئيس تحرير جريدة "روسيسكايا غازيتا" الباحث في تاريخ مخابراتنا الخارجية نيقولاي دولغوبولوف بتقديم الزوجين فارتانيان للمجتمع الروسي لأول مرة. واليوم نتحدث ببعض التفاصيل عن كتابه الجديد الذي صدر بمناسبة الذكرى المئوية لميلاد بطل الاتحاد السوفيتي وأحد أهم رجال الاستخبارات في تاريخ الاتحاد السوفيتي غيفورك فارتانيان.
