Gagan grew up in Kolkata and aspired to play cricket, like millions of other youngsters. However, life had other plans for him.

A graduate of RV College of Engineering, Bangalore, he started his career as an engineer with Infosys in Bangalore. He then moved to SAP where he held various roles such as a tech geek, leader of operations and strategy in Asia Pacific and Japan. His passion, however, was sports and cricket in specific.

Since he wasn't able to compete in the game as a player, Gagan focused on the tech side of things instead. He came up with the idea for str8bat on the INSEAD campus in Fontainebleau, France during the Blue Ocean Strategy discussion where he was pursuing his Executive Leadership Program. In March 2017, Gagan founded str8bat, a consumer tech company in sports with cricket as the first use along with his cofounder Rahul Nagar. He has a couple of patents against his name.

Str8bat has helped 5000+ cricket players improve their skills. Among these players, 10% are professional cricketers. Str8bat has spread to over 300 different towns in India, Australia, and South Africa. The likes of Cricket Australia and Rajasthan Royals are some of the esteemed customers of str8bat and they use str8bat tech to develop, profile, and acquire talent.

Str8bat’s vision is to help every player who plays sport to play better. Str8bat will soon move to other sports and later become a platform player, whose platform other sport tech companies can use to build other specific soliutions.
