Jacob was named Israel after wrestling with God. His legacy was to inherit the promised land of Canaan, and that did happen. However, there was no rest nor was there any peace that was lasting. They had a few good years, and then it was finished. The apostle Paul calls us the Israel of God and echoes Psalm 125. How can this Jewish Psalm be ours? How can this name give us the assurance of being secured in a land? If you are interested in hearing the answer to these questions please stay tuned as we hear, "The Israel of God."

If you are interested in hearing the answer to these questions please stay tuned as we hear, "The Law of Christ."

Sarah laughed when she heard that she was going to have a son. The competing heir of Abraham’s house, named Ishmael, also laughed at Isaac. The Lord tells Abraham to send away Ishmael for laughing at Isaac. Why is it permissible for Sarah to laugh, but not Ishmael? What are the implications of Ishmael being banished from the house of Abraham? The apostle Paul is offended and hurt that this church no longer follows him. Is the apostle Paul justified in this feeling? Is it possible that the apostle Paul cannot stand to share the spotlight with another teacher? Or is there something deeper that concerns him about this church? "A hanged man is cursed by God." This is what the Lord says to Moses in Deuteronomy 21:23. The fate of being hung upon a tree testified to a transgressor of the law. The corpse of the dead executed person hung there as a reminder of the consequence of failing under Moses. When we think about the cross of Christ we think about Christ making payment for our sins. However, do we consistently think about the cross of Christ in light of meriting an eternal inheritance? Why does the apostle Paul cite this passage from Deuteronomy when talking about the reception of the Spirit? What is the historic significance of the cross of Christ? If you are interested in these questions please stay tuned as we hear, "Cursed is Everyone Hanged Upon a Tree."
