Easter wasn’t the finish line. It was the launch point.
In this powerful follow-up message from Pastor George Sawyer, we step into Matthew 28 and uncover what Jesus meant when He told His followers, “Meet Me in Galilee.” This wasn’t just a location. It was a moment of restoration, identity, and commissioning.
After the resurrection, Jesus chose Galilee to restore His disciples after failure, reignite their calling, and release them into purpose. It’s also where we see something profound. Women were the first to carry the message of the resurrection, affirming their vital role in God’s mission from the very beginning.
This message reveals two life-changing realities for every believer:
First, in Galilee, Jesus restored and delegated authority back to His followers.
Second, later in Jerusalem, He would send the power of the Holy Spirit to empower them.
Going all the way back to Genesis 1, we see that humanity was created with dominion, but that authority was lost through sin. Through the cross and resurrection, Jesus reclaimed that authority and entrusted it to His Church with a clear mission: make disciples.
But here’s the key. Authority only functions through submission to Christ. While the enemy still has power, he no longer has authority over those who are in Jesus. That means believers are called to stand firm, live boldly, and walk in the authority Jesus has already secured.
This message is a call to move beyond passive faith and step into resurrection authority, spiritual confidence, and Kingdom purpose.
