This week the Gals are sharing their favorite peony varieties because....it's the perfect time to plant bare root peonies!  

We have chatted all about our favorite varieties in the past, so we thought we'd take a trip down memory lane and replay our Peony Passion Episode.

That crisp air may be coming in more often now, but that doesn't mean that your garden season has to be over!  In this week's episode of the Gals Who Grow, we're sharing our favorite fall crops to either plant out or sow seeds for right now!  We even mention a few bulbs you don't want to miss the window on for next year's harvest, too!

We know this time of year is busy, but you will be thanking yourself when you still have fresh food in the winter, and bulbs ready to sprout from the ground as soon as spring hits us again next year.

Saving your seeds is a sustainable way to continue your garden for many years to come without spending another penny on that seed.

Wow, what an amazingly busy summer it has been!  The Gals have been out on a short break taking it all in.  We've been travelling the world, going to soccer games, growing amazing things in our gardens, and enjoying precious time with our friends and families. 

We're so glad to be back talking all things gardening and growing!  This week's episode is all about what we've been up to and the big successes we feel we've had in our spaces.  

The season isn't over yet!  There are still lots of harvests, lots of weeds, and even more garden chats to come.

In case you haven't noticed...IT'S HOT out lately!  We know you've been working hard all season to keep your garden plants looking happy and healthy, and this heatwave doesn't have to mean they will meet their demise!  

This week, we're sharing our favorite tips on how to help your gardens through any heatwave with plants that are still ALIVE!  Sound too good to be true?  It isn't, we promise!

As Gals who are known to grow all sorts of things, we get this question a LOT.

"Oh no...It's almost July and I haven't planted so many things in my garden yet.  Is it too late?!" 

The answer will surprise and please you all.  The answer is....no!  It's not too late at all!  Here in Zone 6a, we are still 117-ish days out from our estimated first frost date, and so many flowers and veggies can be seeded AND harvested within that time frame.

It's easy to look at anything in your life that you've been wanting and say "I'll do that when the circumstances are better..." but the truth is, we don't need to be waiting on perfection to fill our gardens and our lives with joy!  Let's use what we have right now to start making moves toward the garden of our dreams!

We all have a picture in our head of what we think our space could look like "if only we had more money," or "if only we had more time."  Guess what?  We can take the things readily available to us and begin making those wishes realities now!  

It can be hard to see just how this can be accomplished, so this week we are going over how we're following this practice in our own spaces this year.  

Our budgets are small and our dreams are huge...and we're off to create beautiful things by just starting with what we have.  There's a life lesson there, we just know it.  :)

Take a trip down memory lane with us this week as we remember all the lovely flowers our grandmas used to grow.  Flowers make us feel and remember special moments in our lives unlike anything else.  

Many of these "Grandma Flowers" are making huge comebacks in cottage gardens everywhere, and they deserve to be talked about.

Have you ever looked around after that first beautiful flush of peonies and roses and longed to see more blooming?  That gap between the spring showstoppers and summer annuals can be a long one, so this week the Gals are sharing their favorite gap flowers and foliage to help keep your yard interesting and your heart happy while you wait for that summer color to arrive.  

They're also sharing a little bit about how to make your blooming perennials a little more sturdy throughout the season by either giving them a good prune, a nice little trim, or the infamous Chelsea chop.  (We were a little confused about the last one at first, but we've got it now).
