In this episode of Talking Business, Shelly Peterson - Founder and CEO of Promoting Me and Holly Hansen - Community Development Director for the City of Cloquet are talking about the Hidden Gem of Game Play Stay.

Sara Kenwood opened Game Play Stay at 305 Broadway Street in Cloquet in 2023. The specialty game store sells board games and Pokémon games. In-store tables can be rented by the hour or half-hour as a space for teens to play board games and Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh! Cards (decks can be rented too). The store space is excellent for holding birthday parties or other hosted game events.

"We have a Chronicles game night," said Game Play Stay's owner, Sara Kenwood.

By day, Sara Kenwood is an employee of Sappi in Cloquet. By evening, Sara works in gaming. She grew up a "game nerd" through school, and the dream for this business has been to sell games and create a space for kids and young adults, in particular, to learn how to play games and meet up with their friends in a safe space. Sara stocks snacks and drinks for purchase at the store, so the experience is very relaxing and welcoming. She and her sister help staff the store. You may also have seen her name featured in a Cloquet Public Library event she held for local homeschooled students. Her future goals include adding Dungeons and Dragons and Magic the Gathering, more trading cards, more board and card games, and adding game tournaments. In need of a gaming gift? Let Sara and her team assist you. Check them out today!
