SPECIAL STEAM MACHINE REVIEW IN PREVIOUS PODCAST! CHECK IT OUT! Edie and Nick talk about the subsequent fallout of the XBox layoffs, plus how Double Fine and Obsidian have soft landings from the XBox job cuts, id Software less so. Fun fact: id Software is unionized. Cue raised eyebrows. Ubisoft rewards the Black Flag Resyched team's successful launch with mass firings. And Asha Sharma? She's doing fiiiiine! In fact, hours after axing 3,200 jobs from XBox studios, she gets a new gig on the Fed's Board of Governors to help *improve operations efficiency*. You read that right! Great stuff, guys! Nick and Edie finally got their Steam Machines, and they tested independently. Didn't breathe a word to each other what they thought. Their opinions matched: This is the console they both had hoped for. Was it worth the money? They explain in detail the ups, downs, plusses, minuses, and the quirks they've found with 48 hours of use. This was recorded as part of the live podcast, but we wanted to separate this out for you audio listeners. Since this was from a video stream, there's some show-and-tell that doesn't translate well to audio, but you should be able to visualize, and certainly their review is universal.

The backlash over Sony's announcement to end physical copies of games in 2027 isn't going over well. Really not well. Nick and Edie talk about how, in light of the fact that companies can now reach into your libraries and remove your "owned" content (because they also did just that recently), what that will mean for us as gamers. If buying isn't owning, is piracy theft? Join our Discord and chat with us all the time: / discord Help support us on Patreon! I mean, we KNEW it was going to be expensive, but woooowww... I don't think we were prepared for this. Do we blame Valve? No, according to GamersNexux (Yeah, we'll talk about that interview). Bookend that with GTA6's price tag and, hoo-boy, are we going to have an expensive year. Join our Discord and chat with us all the time: / discord Help support us on Patreon! Jesus jiminy cricket! When will the AI madness end?! Component shortages, fueled by AI and data centers, lead to a whopping increase in SteamDeck prices. Upside: You can get one, now. And if you needed proof that AI is going to trigger an extinction event, just check out the recent 15-day test of AI platforms running their own societies. Let's just say, it didn't go well, and you should ABSOLUTELY not trust Grok to do your laundry, much less run your company. Also, Fable delayed.
