On this extra special edition of Games from the Dorm, David, Mike, and Orion select some of their favorite video game box art and talk about what makes them special. Or at least, that was the plan. Instead, the group laughs at the absurdity that comes from sitting in a room and staring at Lebron James' gigantic head on the NBA 2K14 cover. Have you ever seen the Japanese Super Mario 64 DS cover? It is stranger than you may think.

And somehow, Mike and Orion whip out the biggest inside joke that Games from the Dorm has seen yet. Prepare for the crown jewel that is Goofy's Fun House on the Playstation.

After David played the original Silent Hill last week, he and Orion discuss their polarizing opinions when it comes to Silent Hill 2, one of our most memorable gaming experiences to date (although Mike has not played it, it wouldn't be Games from the Dorm without him!). The group praise the creepy audio and enemy design, the deep dream-like atmosphere, and the unique puzzles.

But it is hard to ignore the elephants in the room. Orion and David struggle through tedious boss fights, multiple gameplay pacing issues, and a camera that won't follow directions. Is one of the most critically-acclaimed games of all time still worth playing in 2023? Does the story make up for the clunky combat? And how on Earth can Eddie eat pizza at a time like this?

It's a double feature today as David, Mike, and Orion tackle the dreadful world of Silent Hill. David shares his frustrations playing through the original Silent Hill, including the nonsensical storyline and the hundreds of broken doors that block every path. But that is not to say that beauty does not exist under the game's surface. And apparently you can beat the final boss by doing absolutely nothing?

The group then dives into P.T., the terrifying playable teaser for the unreleased Silent Hills. It was hard to keep track how many times David, Mike, and Orion clung to each other in fear. They discuss how the teaser uses minimal gameplay to its advantage, how jumpscares feel earned, and if horror games today are objectively scarier than in the past.

David, Mike, and Orion have played a lot of games. And fortunately (or unfortunately) different games require different controllers. The guys share memories of the games they have played and how the corresponding controllers impacted their experiences. This is done to make a definitive tier list of every controller they have used. Disagree? You are wrong.

David gets overly excited about the extendable 3DS styluses. Mike defends the classic choice of keyboard and mouse. Orion grooms a horse with the Kinect. And all have a lot to say about the Wii U gamepad.

The gang's all here! David and Mike quickly discuss their predictions for the upcoming Nintendo Direct before Orion introduces the hit turn-based strategy game XCOM 2. Although strategy games aren't David's genre of choice, the three had more than enough fun creating their custom soldiers. Orion discusses the expansion of the game, War of the Chosen, and his thoughts on the updated story and gameplay.

The three discuss whether or not the game's low difficulty causes boredom. They also talk about gameplay features that will be added in a potential XCOM 3. And Orion makes a very dated and embarrassing Star Wars joke.

David is joined by fellow video game player (and friend!) Orion Martin as they enter the world of survival horror with Resident Evil 2 Remake. Stress-inducing was putting it lightly as the pair encountered zombies, Lickers, and the occasional Claire Redfield obscenity. They discuss the integral map of the Raccoon City Police Department, the spongy enemy design, and the accidental moment when Leon S. Kennedy transformed into his beautiful 1998 polygonal look.

That's not even stating the terrifying Tyrant, a.k.a Mr. X, who scared David and Orion even when they put the controller down (and accidentally left the TV on). From his surprise appearances on different playthroughs to his jumpscare-punch in the garage, he adds the flair needed to make this game an all-time classic for both David and Orion.

Games from the Dorm is back! Now in radio show form! David covers the massive hit (and his first ever Playstation 1 game) with Metal Gear Solid. From the ingenious fourth wall breaks to the wide variety of hidden gameplay mechanics, this game is chock-full of detail and surprises.

Are the boss fights outdated by today's standards? Does the story get too convoluted for its own good? And will anyone help David as he uses a SPOON to mash out of torture?
