Un complejo sistema de valles, cuasi paralelos, que nacen de las cumbres que nos separan de las Vegas del Guadiana y dirigen sus aguas hacia el Norte, buscando el río Tajo.

Welcome to the celestial viewpoint of Garciaz, a magical place where you can enjoy the beauty of the Extremaduran sky. Garciaz is a small town in the Villuercas region, surrounded by nature and heritage.

At the end of the 13th century or the beginning of the 14th century, the cowherd from Cáceres, Gil Cordero, after a miraculous apparition, found the image of the Black Virgin hidden somewhere in the deep mountains of Las Villuercas. From there, a sanctuary is established that begins to receive pilgrims from its closest environment.

The bridges are one of the most visible faces of the immense heritage that Garciaz treasures. The complexity of the mountainous systems, their valleys and scrambles make a good road network essential with important infrastructures that keep the roads open all year round.

The roll or pillory rises in the center of the Plaza de España with a height of 5.60 m. This is not its original location, before it was on Cerro de la Horca, on the outskirts of the municipality, next to the current cemetery.

Among the residents of Garciaz who went to America in the 16th century, the figure of Diego Téllez, son of Pedro and María Díaz, stands out. He marched to Mexico in the year 1523 and participated in the conquest of Nueva Galicia in the year 1531 carrying out the position of encomendero.

It is located in the area known as Los Campos de La Portera. It is the most visible point of an archaeological field of several hectares, the ruins of a building that has undergone different uses and transformations throughout history.

The original building dates back to the SXVI. There was a hermitage at each cardinal point, coinciding with the roads, on the outskirts. Of the four, only this one remains, whose set was restored in 2009.

This hermitage was originally the church of the Hospital de la Caridad which, when it was disentailed in the 19th century, the building was occupied by two national schools.
