The True Koinonia, the Real Fellowship that John focuses on in this letter represents that perfect balance of love and truth represented by Jesus Himself.  (1 John 5:18-21)

The purpose of John's letter is clear-- he wants Christ followers to have a full understanding of the benefits of fellowship with The LORD and to understand how those benefits are far superior to anything this current worldly system offers. (1 John 5:13-17)

The testimony of our Heavenly Father defeats the doubt of this world , helps us to know with complete certainty THE truth, and provides power to overcome the lies of the evil one-- so that we may pursue true fellowship with The LORD and with one another. (I John 5:1-13)

For our spiritual journey through life The LORD provides us with a Guide, a Driver and a Destination. Will we allow Him to direct our path or will we decide to take control? (1 John 4:7-21)

In today’s world there are myriads of philosophies and groups that purport to worship, represent or provide fellowship for God’s people.  How are we to know who is a part of God’s family?  How do decide who to enter in to fellowship with?  In this text John gives us three tests to help us choose

How can we best experience and live out the Love that flows from Fellowship with Christ?  (! John 3:13-24)

As we journey with Jesus are we consistent in our walk?  Are our attitudes, beliefs, values, and priorities consistent with Jesus, our Lord, Leader, and Example? (1 John 3:1-10)

John includes three interwoven aspects of abiding or remaining in fellowship with our LORD. (1 John 2:3-29)

The world offers numerous forms of counterfeit fellowship but fellowship discovered through these avenues is a merely a dark shadow of the pure fellowship God intends for us, His children.  (1 John 1:5-2:2)

True Koinonia can only be found when we hold on to these foundational truths (1 John 1:1-4)
