What can we learn from the message that Jesus gave to the church in Sardis?

Even "the woman Jezebel" was given time to repent! God truly does want all men to be saved!

The image of Jesus in Revelation 2:12 as "the One who has the sharp two-edged sword" gives the impression that this is someone that you don't want to mess with! What is the sword that Jesus has?

In the USA in the year of our Lord 2025, it's easy to become a Christian, meaning there is not much risk involved. But in the first and second centuries, putting your faith in Christ often had consequences. Jesus warned those in Smyrna that more trouble was coming and commanded them to "be faithful unto death."

Do you remember a time when you loved the Lord more than you do now? "Remember from where you have fallen, and repent and do the deed you did at first!"

Satan, depicted as a dragon, recruited the Roman Empire, depicted as a terrible beast, to destroy God's new kingdom that had been birthed by the Messiah. Thus, a great tribulation came upon the early church. Jesus revealed to John that God's people should persevere with faith until His judgment would come upon the persecutors. Then Christ and His kingdom would reign upon the earth!

Memorial Day is for remembering those who gave their lives in service to the United States of America. Each Sunday is a day for remembering the One who gave His life in service to every person in the world. The Lord's Supper is a memorial to Him.

The terminology may seem old, but may we never let chaste behavior go out of style!
