Unfortunately, Predator and I took a tumble on Friday when I was riding home from a Cold Spring Tavern run to Santa Barbara 😕
I had just passed through Grimes Canyon and was on Stockton Road and hit some water/pesticide/fertilizer slip & slide drainage that had completely covered the road... the front tire immediately tucked to the right and I got thrown about 30 feet down the road landing on my left side and breaking 1 back rib and fracturing my sternum just left of center on my chest.
The impact gave me a minor concussion and knocked me out for a couple of seconds and I came to puking in my helmet, luckily face down at the time 🙃 I also got lucky with a super nice local guy who lives on Stockton pulled over immediately after the wreck to render assistance and call 911 and paramedics were on the scene super fast. 👍 And he also offered to hold my bike on his property and drop it off after I'm out of the hospital-! 🙌
I've been taken care of really well at Los Robles hospital for the past 2 days and maybe ready for release today fingers crossed, pain has subsided and I'm able walk and stretch as needed.
All my riding gear did it's job well but it's a definite reminder for me to get a new air vest for my 2 piece and to service the air vest in my full leathers too. Its been 8 years since my last major wreck that broke my neck , back & hand, so hopefully I can go another 8 years before the next surprise mishap 🙏
Thanks for all the support from friends and family and the staff at the hospital who were all super nice too ❤️ Give me 5 or 6 weeks and I'll see you guys back in the Mountains and Canyons for some more runs🤙
Update:
I'm home now, and dealing with a lot of pain after the steroids wore off... Such is life, one day at a time for me for a couple of month's at least... 🖖
