Who is Gaston Hope in Christ?
Gaston Hope in Christ is a local ministry of area churches and individuals who have worked together to meet needs for those in our communities since 1999. The main program is Hope in Christ tutoring, which offers free tutoring after school three days a week to provide a caring, learning, growing environment for students. 

Gaston Hope in Christ has provided college internships and high school student enrichment programs in the summer to promote community awareness and service and build teamwork and develop character and leadership skills.

What is Polio?
Poliomyelitis, or polio, is a paralyzing and potentially fatal disease that still threatens children in some parts of the world. Poliovirus invades the nervous system and can cause total paralysis in hours. It can strike people of any age but mainly affects children under five. Polio can be prevented by vaccines, but it is not curable. Unlike most diseases, polio can be eradicated.

What is Crowd Out Polio?
The Rotary Club of Gastonia created a special fundraising event for Polio Plus. Participants will walk, hike, or climb on the trails of Crowders Mountain State Park starting September 7th to raise money to help eradicate polio.

Who is Dallas High Shoals Christian Ministry (DCM)?
The Dallas High Shoals Christian Social Ministry (DCM) was started in 1986 as a Christmas assistance program for the Dallas area. It was evident at that time that there was a definite need that went above just the holiday season. They became a nonprofit organization that is supported by the Dallas Ministerial Association and their local churches. 

What is their mission?
Their  mission is to help those in need by providing food and financial assistance.    Dallas High Shoals Christian Social Ministry (DCM) serves with compassion by providing crisis assistance, humanitarian aid and developmental (self-improvement) opportunities to persons and families in the Dallas, High Shoals, Alexis and Stanley areas.

Who is Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA)?
They are a community working to see the world transformed by Jesus Christ through the influence of coaches and athletes.

Their mission is focused on love and serving others through relationships. This is accomplished through over 30 different huddles in the county.

Who is Guardians of the Children?
The Gastonia Chapter of Guardians of the Children was chartered in November 2010 by a dedicated group of diverse individuals who saw the need to educate and assist our community to the affects of child abuse

The mission of the Guardians of the Children (GOC) is to recognize and react to child abuse and educate the public to do the same; to serve as advocates to provide strength and stability to families in crisis; and be an answer to the prayer of an abused child or teen for courage, support and protection.

Who is the Special Olympics of Gaston County?

Special Olympics Gaston County serves nearly 400 children and adults with intellectual disabilities throughout the county. Training and competition programs are offered in 11 sports.

The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
