well worth listening to the full series charting the adventures of Thimas Blackstone. A fictional hero up there with Uhtred of Bebbanberg.

The best of best

This is the best series of audio books I have ever listened to, I can only hope there are more to follow, Colin, Bedworth Warwickshire.

A great book and amazing performance

I really recommend this for anyone with an interest in historical fiction. This novel takes a slightly darker tone which I enjoyed, and has some shocking twists and turns which leave you aching for more. The best book in the series so far, and Im already looking forward to the next one!

I am a great fan of Bernard Cornwell's writing and characters but must say I think Uthred has more than met his match in Sir Thomas

Heavy handed on the blood and gore but a great story well read and compelling
