Dr Michelle Sharpe is a Barrister at the Victorian Bar and practices primarily in the area of general commercial and regulatory law specialising in contract, property and consumer protection law and disciplinary hearings.

A passionate advocate for mental health, Michelle is the founding member and former chair of the Victorian Bar’s Health and Wellbeing Committee. During her 9 years on this committee Michelle helped establish a wellbeing program, which included a 24/7 counselling service for barristers.

In this episode of Gatehouse Insights Michelle discusses with Louise Hvala the mental health issues faced by lawyers in Australia, what can be done to address this and how America is ahead of Australia in this area. Michelle also shares her story of what motivated her to go the Bar and her advice for lawyers who want to transition.
