We're human beings, not human doings.

We often say "Jesus died for you" and quickly pass over the fullness of that statement. It's possible to be so familiar with the cross of Jesus, that we are no longer devastated by it or aware of the brutal nature of it. Jesus is our sin.

Moses' first miracle was a plague - turning water into blood (Ex. 7:19), which speaks of judgement. Jesus' miracle speaks of grace, turning water into wine. He brings fullness where there was emptiness, joy where there was disappointment, and something internal for that which was only external. This miracle is a sign that points to The Gospel - the availability of the Kingdom of God - and it is an extravagant gift. Jesus is extravagant.

The ancient world did not adore children like we do today. Jesus lived and taught in a time where kids were seen as threats to the estate and a hassle. While people didn't want to be bothered with children, Jesus said, "let them come to me" and began to change the way people viewed children. Jesus is kid friendly.
