In her research, Professor Ma Vang analyzes Hmong women’s narratives against U.S. redacted archival records to elicit new conclusions about the history and historiography of Hmong refugees in the US.

In this week's Gatty Lecture Rewind, Michael and Cornell Graduate Student Juan Fernandez interview Anthony Medrano, PhD and Ziff Environmental Fellow at Harvard University. They discuss Anthony's research on the history of fish production and consumption in Southeast Asia, particularly in the Straits of Melaka between Indonesia and Malaysia. Anthony's talk was titled, "Working the Tides: Pawangs, Fishers, and Scientists in the Straits of Melaka, 1870-1940."

Urmila's lecture relied on fieldwork and archival research over the past few years, and used an anthropological and historical lens to the uses of images by some Balinese.
