  • 45. Fear Street, Lacy Nightwing's IMVU Chat Room

CW: gore, homicide, homophobia, child death, animal (particularly dog) death, attempted rape

It's almost Halloween, so it's time for horror! We talk about the queering of RL Stine's Fear Street franchise in the recent Netflix film trilogy adaptation, from 1994 back to 1666. We enjoyed how the creators handled queer representation in the horror genre and we're excited to talk with you all about it!

  • 43. Asagao to Kase-san, Who Can Guess How This Manga Is Connected To Eerie Queerie?
CW: lolicon mentions, jealousy and controlling behavior in relationships
We got the opportunity to talk about the Kase-san series, a manga with accompanying OVA Anime short. The series is about two high school students, a track star and a socially awkward gardening enthusiast, who fall in love and start to spend their lives together. There was a lot we liked, and a fair amount to critique. We also got to talk about Eerie Queerie and BL manga, which we'll jump on at any opportunity.

  • 42. Our Dreams At Dusk, We Both Teared Up Recording This Episode
CW: attempted suicide and suicidal thoughts, transphobia, homophobia (and internalized homophobia), unsupportive parents, dead-naming, sexual assault (and victim blaming), outing, death via cancer and old age
Our Dreams at Dusk by Yuhki Kamatani (an x-gender and asexual manga artist) is one of our favorite manga. Talking about it made us both tear up this episode! It's a thoughtful series about a gay teen who considers suicide but learns to live his life with pride after finding a drop-in center full of LGBTQ adults who support him. Join us as we talk about this manga and some of the nuances of translating comics!

  • 41. Our Teachers Are Dating, More Fluff Please!
Join us as we talk about Pikachi Ohi's manga, Our Teachers Are Dating! It's a fluffy romance series about a gym teacher and a biology teacher who fall in love, and it's delectably saccharine. We also talk about our desire for more intense / gritty yuri manga - if you have suggestions, always e-mail them to [email protected] !

CW: Heroin use, death due to complications from AIDs, volatile and manipulative relationships, grief

But we also talk about which celebrities would be in our Cluster, so you have to tune in to find out!

  • 37. Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid, Please Get Ilulu Some Khakis
CW: Heavy discussion about sexualization of children.
Season two is almost upon us, so this week, we're talking about an anime/manga series called Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid, about a software programmer who drunkenly invites a cute dragon girl to be her live-in maid. It's cute when it's cute, until it's not cute, then it's very bad... But don't worry, we talk about the ups and the downs of this complicated franchise, as well as some of our thoughts on the upcoming season.
