  • The Tripe Supper: 'Getting the right man is far more important than making a quick appointment'
As things stand we don't know who will be in charge of Boro next season. So when will we know? And is there a rush to get the new manager in?
Dominic Shaw is joined by Anthony Vickers and Jonathon Taylor to discuss the potential timescale of the appointment and whether or not Boro need to act soon.
Anthony Vickers says the priority is making sure Steve Gibson appoints the right man, not that he appoints the first available candidate. And that the most important thing is that there's a new man in for the time players return for pre-season training. For information regarding your data privacy, visit acast.com/privacy

  • What kind of manager will Steve Gibson be looking for this summer?
Much has been made of Middlesbrough chairman Steve Gibson's BBC Tees interview at the weekend in which he vowed to "smash the league" next season. The Boro chief labelled this season as a "collective failure" and conceded change was needed "at all aspects of the club" this summer to ensure the Riverside hosts Premier League football again in August 2018.
Gibson's comments have cast doubt over Steve Agnew's long-term future - with a suggestion that he is exploring the possibility of an external appointment to breathe fresh life into the club this summer.
But what kind of manager would be deemed the right candidate to lead Boro's promotion charge next season?
Nigel Pearson and Fabrizio Ravanelli have already publicly declared an interest, while ex-Manchester United winger Ryan Giggs remains the bookies' favourite to begin the 2017/18 season in charge of Boro.
And is Steve Agnew still in contention?
We discuss what is needed from a prospective new manager ahead of next season, as well as touching on the speculation surrounding the hotseat. For information regarding your data privacy, visit acast.com/privacy
