  • The Tripe Supper: Play-off twists, midfield debate & Player of the Year contenders
How many more twists and turns will the Championship cough up in the final two weekends of the season?
After the Sheffield United defeat, Boro's prospects looked grim but two wins on the bounce have sparked real belief in the stands and on the pitch.
The play-off picture is discussed in our latest Middlesbrough FC Tripe Supper podcast.
Dominic Shaw is joined by Anthony Vickers, Philip Tallentire and Boro season ticket holder Chris Garbutt.
They also debated the battle for places in the midfield and assessed the contenders for the Player of the Year award. For information regarding your data privacy, visit acast.com/privacy

  • The ups and downs of Britt Assombalonga's season - and what does the future hold?
Britt Assombalonga looks likely to be leading the line for Boro at Derby.
Tony Pulis says Patrick Bamford won't be risked after his injury against Bristol City and has called on Assombalonga to take his chance.

It's been an up and down season for Assombalonga.

Boro's record signing remains the club's top scorer but has had to settle for a spot on the fringes in the second half of the season.

Why doesn't the striker tick Pulis's boxes? And what does the future hold for the former Forest man?

Dominic Shaw is joined by Philip Tallentire and season ticket holder Chris Garbutt for this week's podcast.

Martin Braithwaite and Ashley Fletcher are also discussed, as well as the resurgence of Bamford since Pulis took charge. For information regarding your data privacy, visit acast.com/privacy

  • Middlesbrough's big game flaw and problems on the road
For Middlesbrough to stand any chance of breaking back into the top six they need to do something which they've found incredibly difficult this season: beat their rivals.
The loss at Sheffield United in midweek again highlighted Boro's big game flaw but with fixtures to come against Bristol City, Derby and Millwall it's something that needs addressing and fixing immediately.

Boro have also struggled on the road of late.

    But why?

  • Tripe Supper: Besic's impact, Baker questions & Bamford's dilemma
Midfielder Mo Besic has made quite the impact since joining Boro from Everton on loan in January.
The Bosnian has only played six times for the club but is already "undroppable", according to Jonathon Taylor.

Jonathon and Philip Tallentire joined Dominic Shaw for this week's Boro podcast.

Our writers also discussed Lewis Baker and his re-emergence in the first team fold. Beyond this season, what next for the Chelsea loanee?

And Patrick Bamford is also on the menu, with the in-form striker on Ireland's radar. For information regarding your data privacy, visit acast.com/privacy

  • Tripe Supper: The Garry Monk reunion & how Boro have changed
Two days after Garry Monk gets the Birmingham gig, he takes charge of the club for the first time against Boro on Tuesday night.
    Football.

Monk was in charge of Boro the last time these sides met when a win for the hosts at the Riverside moved them into the top six. Tony Pulis will be hoping his side end up in those play-off spots at close of play on Tuesday.

Dominic Shaw is joined by Anthony Vickers and Jonathon Taylor for the latest Tripe Supper podcast as they look back on Monk's time in charge and ahead to the St Andrew's reunion. For information regarding your data privacy, visit acast.com/privacy

  • Gestede's injury woe, Sunderland preview and Assombalonga vs Bamford
Who will fill the Middlesbrough void left by Rudy Gestede?
That's the starting point for the second Tripe Supper of a busy week as we look ahead to Saturday's third and final Wear-Tees showdown of the season.

Boro have won both of their previous meetings against Sunderland this term in both the Championship and the FA Cup, but Tony Pulis' preparations were dealt a blow this week following Gestede's gutting diagnosis.

An X-ray confirmed that the forward has fractured his ankle and will play no further part in Boro's promotion quest, a blow for a player who trebled his league account with an impressive two-goal haul against Hull on Tuesday evening.

But with Gestede sidelined, Boro must now turn to others in the squad to score the goals to sustain a top-six tilt over the next 13 games.

Will it be £15m striker Britt Assombalonga, Boro's record signing who has dropped down the pecking order since Pulis' appointment, who is given a chance to stake his claim at the Stadium of Light?

Or could Patrick Bamford, a player who has yearned for a central role since re-signing for the club more than a year ago, who could be given the nod on Wearside?

Dominic Shaw is joined by Jonathon Taylor and season ticket holder Chris Garbutt to discuss Gestede's injury, the battle to replace him and Saturday's game at Sunderland. For information regarding your data privacy, visit acast.com/privacy

  • The Tripe Supper: Bamford's role & Boro future and why the struggle for relegated teams?
What a lovely finish it was from Patrick Bamford as he lifted Boro into a 2-1 lead against Hull City on Tuesday night.
With that goal, you'd think Bamford did enough against the Tigers to keep his place in the team for the trip to Sunderland on Saturday.

But what does the long-term future hold for Bamford? With the ex-Chelsea man being used on the left side of midfield, can he nail down a spot in Tony Pulis' team.

With Boro having beaten Hull this week and with Sunderland to come on Saturday, our writers also discuss the three relegated teams and ask why they've struggled this season.

  • The Tripe Supper: Strikers, Jack Harrison & whether Middlesbrough's focus has already shifted to next season
After all the summer investment in bolstering the forward line, there seemed little chance of Boro coming up short in front of goal this season.
But of late, that's what's let the side down.

After Martin Braithwaite and Ashley Fletcher left on loan in January and with Patrick Bamford being used on the left, it seems a straight shoot-out between Britt Assombalonga and Rudy Gestede to lead the line. So who gets the nod?

Where Assombalonga is concerned, what does the future hold? Can the striker make a long-term success of being the frontman in a Pulis system?

Away from the subject of strikers, Jack Harrison is discussed in our latest podcast, while the lads also mull over the play-off picture and whether Boro's attention has already drifted to next season.
