South Wales rockers Scarlet Rebels will release their much-anticipated new album ‘Where the Colours Meet’ on August 16th, 2024, via Earache Records. A record that the band is immensely proud of and a record that has seen fans taken on an incredible journey with impressive single after impressive single released so far.

We’ve heard it and it is a near-perfect album that features banger track after banger track after banger track and so on. Not just infectiously lovable and impressively accessible, but with so much enthusiasm from Scarlet Rebels, it’s simply unforgettable as a release.

It’s also an album with a lot of thought and care put into it by the band, and what they have achieved here matters to them. Which is sentiments expressed by vocalist and guitarist Wayne Doyle. It’s he that we spoke to about the album, about some of the themes behind it, and how the experience to release has been. ‘Taste in Music’ is the debut horror short film from British-Norwegian director Kyle Sevenoaks, and stars Norwegian-French actor Chris Wiborg. When a cosmic storm hits Earth, a man alone in his remote cabin has to face down the transformed evil that has become of his keyboard.

Explains director Kyle Sevenoaks:

This film was inspired by a conversation “what would happen if this keyboard became alive?”

I had access to a very remote cabin on the Norwegian coast that’s only accessible by boat, and it quickly became apparent that this had to be horror, with a touch of comedy since that’s pretty much who I am.

I wanted to create a quick and tight, self-contained story that was fun and asks the question “what would you do in this ridiculous situation?”

Having filmed this on a shoestring budget of only a few hundred dollars and the good will of friends and acquaintances, making this film taught me a lot about what it is to be a director, what to take care of next time and how important it is to know the different departments, if even a little bit.

The short film stars Chris Wiborg who debuted his official acting career in the music videos of his band,’ I The Betrayer’ (vocalist/lyricist). However, Wiborg has had a passion for acting all his life, joining local theatres at a young age, producing countless amateur movies, and putting on personas while streaming on Twitch.

We spoke to Chris about his passion for acting, about the role he had in ‘Taste in Music’, the work that went into it, and how he was able to infuse his own love of horror into the character and film.

In this case, it’s Bloodstock Open Air 2024, which is right around the corner. Taking place August 8th to August 11th, the UK’s premier metal festival has, once again, delivered a stellar line-up.

One such band on the bill is Yersin, the three-piece extreme metal band from the bleak and barren part of the world known as the North East of England. Playing ferocious music that encapsulates elements of crust punk, D-beat, death metal, and is infused with a hefty black metal tinge, the sound of Yersin creates a raw auditory experience.

They will play Bloodstock Festival this year, hitting the EMP stage on the Sunday of the festival. They're back from the grave and ready to party… again.

The cult classic ‘The Return of the Living Dead’ has been highly revered by horror fans for almost four decades. Celebrating its 40th Anniversary next year, DRagon Studios now presents a new feature film from The Return of the Living Dead Universe titled, ‘Trash’s Revenge’.

Trash, an iconic character made famous by Linnea Quigley, the iconic 80’s scream queen known for her roles in ‘Night of the Demons’, ‘Creepozoids’, and ‘Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers’, is back.

If that wasn’t exciting enough, joining Linnea Quigley are original cast members Beverly Randolph, Thom Mathews, John Philbin, Drew Deighan, and Miguel Nunez. The project will also feature the talents of composer Francis Haines and makeup artist Tony Gardner.

It’s all very exciting and very much needed when you consider the mess the franchise ended up in with poor sequel after poor sequel.

Alas, as of the time of this interview, those involved in trying to make Trash’s Revenge a reality has discovered that, according to a statement put out, a company called Living Dead Media had illegitimately claimed copyright ownership and had been profiting from The Return of the Living Dead for the last 10 years without paying any royalties to the cast. This has resulted in the campaign being temporarily halted while this issue is sorted out.

Trash’s Revenge is not going away, we just need to be patient. This issue is something we discuss in this interview with Linnea, while also digging into the guts of Trash’s Revenge, talking about the iconic original film, and even touching upon other areas of Linnea’s incredible career to date.

Portuguese metal band Black Hill Cove, known for their genre-bending fusion of groove, modern thrash, hardcore, and death metal, recently released their latest music video for the track ‘Eternal’. The track comes from their full-length album ‘Ex Tenebris Vita’, released in April 2024 on Raging Planet Records.

Formed during the global pandemic in 2020, Black Hill Cove quickly made a name for themselves with their debut album Broken’, which was released in November 2021. The band’s explosive live performances and unique vision are evident in their single video releases, including ‘The Calling’, ‘The Wolf’, and ‘Angels Fall’.

We spoke to vocalist Rui FAC about the new video release, why Eternal was chosen as the next single, and what it means to the band. We also go in depth into the creation of the album, some of the song-writing aspects, playing live, and so much more.

Heavy metal will never die. But every now and then, it needs a fresh injection of passion, purity, and pomp, just in case. Returning with a new album after seven years of studio silence, Dream Evil are obviously the right men for the job. They are ‘Metal Gods’, and their reign continued with the release of this new album on July 26th, 2024, via Century Media Records.

The gods of anthemic heavy metal music. Dream Evil have been making people of all ages head bang for a few decades now and though it has been a while, they don’t mess with the winning formula in the slightest with this new album, Metal Gods. Dream Evil are back, doing Dream Evil stuff, and sounding energised and happy. Metal Gods isn’t going to set the world alight, but it’s certainly some major kindling.

Benedict Harris-Hayes is an award-winning audio creative, composer and multi-instrumentalist best known for his work in MASS!VE DYNAM!C and ENOCHIAN THEORY, as well as his ‘progressive metal’ project, Oceanica.

It’s the latter that we know him best for, having really enjoyed the 2019 debut album from the project, OneDark (read our review here). As good as that album was, Ben improved on what the project could deliver impressively with the album, ‘Panta Rhei’, released in 2023.

Benedict Harris-Hayes is a talented musician, a very creative individual, and it’s his latest imaginative effort that got us talking. Coming late 2024, it’s ‘Try Not to Dwell on It’, a new 21-minute-long track from Oceanica. In this interview, we get into some of the details of the track, the creative process of it, and how it came about. As well as delving into Ben’s own personal creative path amongst the many projects he is and has been part of.
