Isn’t it a good thing to tell people what our big hairy goals are? By telling them won’t they help keep us accountable?

Be careful about doing that.

There will be a lot of people, including family and close friends, who won’t agree with what you’re doing. It’s not like you’re breaking the law, but it’s almost gets the same response. They won’t understand why you would want to quit a nice and stable job. They won’t understand why you’re doing whatever it is you dream about doing.

They try to dissuade you and they believe they’re doing it out of love. If enough people tell you the same thing, it could cause you to believe they are right.
