We all have leaders in our lives. Some of us are leaders and yet, even the leaders among us have leaders who guide and direct them. For the Christian, whether they’re a leader or not, having Jesus as their one, true Leader both in time and for eternity is what it means to be “A Christ Follower”. He guides us! He directs us! He moves us! He molds us! He shapes us! He leads us! 1John 3:1-10 reminds us that Jesus leads us as we live in this world representing Him and He will also do so when we leave this place and cross over to where He is! Today, we’ll remember, Jesus is Leader!

We often find ourselves walking in darkness and doing so willingly and repeatedly. More than that, we can begin to think that since the Lord Jesus is “Light”, He will, therefore, give up on us and walk away from us, saying, “You’re too dark, too sinful, even for Me!” But we’re reminded today that Jesus isn’t just “Light” for us but Jesus is also “Loyal” to us! As John writes it, He is our “Advocate”! This means that when we sin, He stands next to us, He stands with us, and He does so the whole of our lives, pleading our case and forgiving our sins! Today, we’ll remember, Jesus is Loyal!

Interestingly, just about every one is afraid of the dark. There are varying degrees of this, but generally, people are quick to turn on the lights in order to dispel the darkness because they fear what might be in the dark alongside them! Perhaps that’s why the Lord was so bent on telling us that He is the light! And, of course, He did so because He is light, the God who is light! 1 John 1:5-10 reminds us of Jesus' status as the God of light and reminds us that through Him, He keeps us out of the darkness of living in sin, death, and the power of the devil! Today, we’ll remember Jesus is Light!
