I've been thinking about the "best in show" gear that I came across at NAMM this year, as we discussed in our recent episode with guest Collin Adler.

I mentioned a few pieces that were my favorites but I glossed over quite possibly THE best in show for guitar world: Dover Amplification! A U.K. based company that made their debut at NAMM this year and offered up, what I believe to be, the sickest high gain amp I've heard in a LONG time.

I go over their offerings on the website and give a few sound clips from NAMM I found. As evidence in this episode, I had nothing bad to say about these guys and am stoked on the work they're doing.

As I drove home from work today, I was pondering over how much work I had just done for the podcast. Videography, photography (editing for both), audio mixing/recording, and writing music. All of those things have become hobbies of mine over time and I was really curious if there is such a thing as too many hobbies?

NAMM, or the National Association of Music Merchants is a bi- annual trade show for the music equipment industry to show off their new offerings for the year.

I've been going for the last 10 years and its a fun time every year. I had a fun chat with long time friend Collin Adler, who is the front-of-house sound engineer for Cattle Decapitation as well as many other groups.

We talked shop over our 2020 NAMM experience, fun stories from the convention, and our favorite new offerings.

Hey Everyone! Today's Quick Thoughts episode is about my first (and only) bass I own! A 2010's Fender Squier Vintage Modified Jazz Bass. You would not BELIEVE the body on this guitar! Flame maple at the level you see most American series basses.

Fun story about how my wife gifted me the bass as a surprise for my birthday while I worked at Guitar Center.

I think I shouted out at least 5 people in the story, so cheers to Steve Steward, Jason Brady, Chase Ehle, and the old crew at GC 111.

also, I kind of taught drummer extraordinaire Thomas Pridgen a certain type of blast beat. yes, you read that right. The Mars Volta, Eros Ramazzotti, Residente drummer learned how to do a certain type of blast beat.
