Geek Nerdery

So I tested all you listeners to see if you would listen all the way through last episode. Good thing is you all passed and I for sure didn’t forget to put the Mindhunter discussion at the end of the episode. As a reward here is the Mindhunter discussion that is very very spoilerific. Enjoy.

It’s Slater September and we’re bringing the most requested Christian Slater Film ever to the first week. We tune in to Happy Harry Hard On’s show and talk about PUMP UP THE VOLUME. After that we time travel back to the 60’s and check out some scandalous rock and roll in PIRATE RADIO. We also discuss Ready Or Not, the new Dave Chappelle stand up special, Dunkirk, and after our outro music we do a spoilery discussion of the new season of Mindhunter.

We close out Hauergust with a very specific theme that was unintentional. First up Rutger Hauer plays a former Medical Examiner who has to team up with a female cop to stop a killer that has returned from his past in BONE DADDY. After that Hauer plays a gynecologist who has to team up with a female cop (played this time by Pam Grier) to stop a killer sort of from his past in SLOW BURN aka WILDER. After that we talk about Cooties, Invader Zim, The Crush, Teen Titans: Judas Contract, 47 Meters Down: Uncaged, and Nightmare Cinema.

We take a bump on the journey that is Hauergust and have to swap out the intended movie OMEGA DOOM with one that we could easily find with WANTED: DEAD OR ALIVE. Rutger Hauer faces off against Gene Simmons in a terrorist cat and mouse game. Also we talk about some killer bees in the jungle (and on a plane) in KILLER BUZZ aka FLYING VIRUS. We also talk about GLOW, SCARY STORIES TO TELL IN THE DARK, and MONSTER SQUAD.

This episode we’re taking a look at two movies where Rutger Hauer plays the bad guy. First up he proves to be a nuisance for a young kid driving through the desert. Then Rutger Hauer is a terrorist that is a nuisance for Sylvester Stallone and Billy Dee Williams in Nighthawks. After that we talk about The Boys, The Sinner, and Freddy VS Jason.

We kick off our month of celebrating the life of Rutger Hauer (Hauergust) with his films HOBO WITH A SHOTGUN and BLIND FURY. We also chat about Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, Jaws, and The Boys.

We travel back to 1978 to look at two films that deal with telekinesis. First up we’re bedridden as we watch PATRICK. Then we get taken to a super secret facility where we wait for Kirk Douglas to break us out in THE FURY. We also talk about the band The Offspring, Crawl, and at the end of the show we get into spoilery talk about season 3 of Stranger Things.

Doug is back and shares his harrowing tales from his vacation. Oh and we talk about Beastmaster which Doug has never seen before. Then we talk about Lancelot Guardian Of Time which Doug wishes he had never seen before. After that we talk some Death of Superman, Reign Of The Supermen, Crawl, and the latest season of Stranger Things.

You may know these 23min of Ska specials on Geek Nerdery to mainly do holiday-themed shows, but it seems I missed a very important holiday, that is: the birthday of Geek Nerdery head honcho Mr. Bryan “Bitch Pants” Wolford! Here it is, a day late, cuz I suck, but he rules! The songs are unlabeled as to add to the mystery of it’s unpackaging… you know, like a present of something thematical with birthdays…

This week it’s all about giant creatures from the sky! First up we do some test piloting with The Giant Claw. After that we watch Kane from Kung-Fu and shaft track down a giant flying serpent in Q The Winged Serpent. We also talk about Aquariums, Annabelle Comes Home, and Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
