Richard is joined by The Hod from the 2000AD boards to look through progs 1693-95 and to discuss amongst other things the casting and rumoured script of the new Dredd movie. This extended episode sees the team tackle the realm of Faerie and tracks it's equivalents through sci-fi and horror. Ranging from A Midsummer Nights Dream to Jonathon Strange and Mr Norrell, the team wander the mist-shrouded forest paths (making awful jokes to try and keep our spirits up) and straining, straining to pierce through the terrible glamour and unmask the true creatures beneath. Demons, djinn, parasites, aliens and tortured souls are all revealed to our scrutiny.Somehow we manage to miss an entire sub-genre of sweaty Mills-and-Boone-a-likes.Maybe next time, eh fellas?
This week in the first of a double sized chunk of arguementative banter Captain Kehaar and Matt Wonder (really his superhero name should be Mr Monkey Hanger but I digress...) enagage with the wonderful world of superheros. This episode they look at Superheroes questions of the appeal of the Superheroes, supers as commerical product, the deconstruction of the genre, is Superman Jewish, how to annoy Alan Moore more, great villans, why is Spiderman hated all out of a riff on the basic theme of sueprheroes being divided into dark avengers of the night or cosmic b@ll&cks wondermen. Next episode they start to look at Superhumans and the law and delve into the differences between Marvel and DCs take on superhumans in the socieities of their respective universes. http://entertainment.timesonline.co.uk/tol/arts_and_entertainment/article418437.ece has more on the Radio 4 documentry refered to in the epsiode.
