Recorded 18 April 2022. As the opportunities to actual get people in a room to talk board games continues to be difficult, I decide to talk to myself about the games I got rid of and sold at CanCon22. As its just me rambling, its probably not something you want to listen to, but at least it means the equipment still works.
Recorded 4 September 2021. Every Friday night during COVID lockdown we have been getting together on Skype and playing Board Games online using the wonderful site BGA (https://boardgamearena.com).
So, here is a quick chat whilst we play our favourite BGA starter filler 6 nimmt! We talk briefly on gaming during lockdown including online Diplomacy whilst clearly being distracted by what is happening in 6 nimmt!
In a desperate attempt to see if the equipment still works, I give the board game vibe on the Quest for El Dorado.
Never bring a knife to a gun fight, nor a condenser microphone to a multi-microphone podcast! The literal echo chamber that is GeekCroft Board Gamers returns after a year with still not much to add. We discuss mainly how Board Game Arena saved our gaming 2020, our alternate events for Essen and CanCon, and make a fairly weak commitment to do this again within the current year.
In Episode 7, we find ourselves at CanCon, the biggest and best board game convention in Australia, held in the nation's capital of Canberra.
This episode contains the interviews from CanCon. We were most fortunate to get to speak to some very interesting people, with the focus being their process for board game design, board game videos, board game libraries or board game podcasts.
If you wish to go straight to the interviews and miss the waffle, the time stamps are:
04:26 Martin Wallace (renowned game designer)
14:47 Stella & Tarrant from Meeple University (Board Game YouTube Channel – www.meepleuniversity.com)
27:06 Guardians from the CanCon Board Game Library
37:24 Mark & Garth from The Dice Men Cometh (Australia's Best Board Game Podcast – www.dicemencometh.com)
We had recorded this episode on 15th November 2019, but I initially thought the quality of the recording wasn't good enough, but actually, its ok, so here it is.
On Episode #6 we talked Megagames, the Sydney 18XX convention, the follow up to Wingspan, traditional card games, On the Underground, RA the Dice Game, Hive Pocket edition, grail games and our plans leading up to CanCon 2020.
On Episode #5, we hit the icy road and travel to the Blue Mountains to record ourselves and others at one of our favourite board gaming conventions - Ettincon (more at ettincon.org). In addition to a discussion over breakfast and post game analysis of 'Raiders of the North Seas' and 'Brass: Lancashire', we have interviews with Matt and Don from Team Ettincon 2019 about how the day went and the expanding future plans.
On episode #4 we discuss Great Western Trail (with expansion), Endeavor (both sides of the board), Mykerinos, and also the upcoming EttinCon.
On the third episode we talk Terraforming Mars and its expansions, Code 777, plus a few filler card games (Arboretum and Guildhall). No polish applied to this one (i.e no edits but probably required a few).
On the second episode of the GeekCroft Board Gamers podcast we discuss 6 player Colonia (its tight), the Century games (Spice Road and Eastern Wonders) and the prelude chapter of Betrayal Legacy. You may also notice the one edit.
